Otis Nixon's Bodyguard

I'll preface by saying that I'm not one to subscribe to there being any reason or meaning behind something like this, but rather one who writes such things off as coincidences. That being said, I've noticed that, beginning in '02, Lance Berkman has alternated between great seasons and mediocre seasons (by his own high standards). His OPS+ in those seasons has been:
'02 - 150
'03 - 138
'04 - 159
'05 - 143
'06 - 163
'07 - 131
'08 - 159
As you can see, if you throw out '02 and begin with '03, the pattern is even more pronounced. It also looks more pronounced if you consider traditional stats versus sabermetrics. So far, his OPS+ is 126 for '09. The logical side of me doesn't think there's any significance to this trend, but I will admit that I've avoided him in fantasy drafts because of it. Has anyone else ever noticed this about him?
