Hi all,

My daughter plays in a grade 4-5 rec league youth fastpitch softball league. She's in 4th grade and one of the team's catchers. Our best pitcher throws very hard, and it hurts her hand to catch with a regular glove.

So we're thinking about buying her a catcher's mitt, but I have no idea what to look for, where to find it, etc. (I've also suggested that she use a batting glove inside her glove, and she'll try that, but I'm not sure that will be enough.)

She's 10 years old and will likely continue to play catcher. She loves the game, and catcher is probably her strongest position (she also pitches and plays IF and OF). I'd like to get something she can use for a few years. Her next level of play after this one will be a grades 6-8 league and a middle school team.

Her current level, which she will be in next year, uses an 11" ball. In grades 6-8, she'll be using a 12" ball. (She doesn't play travel league b/c it conflicts with summer camp.)

If we can find a mitt suitable for her now that she could use into the 6-8 level, that would be great. I don't know how feasible that is.

Questions:

What size should I look for?
Any particular brands and/or models recommended?
Any online sellers or links? Local stores don't have a great selection for this type of thing.

Our budget is not in the Nokona range, and is definitely under $100 (and closer to the $50 range if possible).

Suggestions and feedback welcome.

Thanks, 'title. What do you like about that one? What level is it appropriate for (it's a bit bigger than some other youth mitts)?
