Anyone know why in the late '60s on Houston Astros player cards, Topps chose to label them only with 'HOUSTON' instead of 'ASTROS' on the fronts? All the other player cards in the '68 and '69 sets were labeled with the team names (Yankees, Orioles, Cubs, etc.), but never 'ASTROS' until around '70 or '71. This was long after they were known as the Colt '45s, so that shouldn't have been the reason. I've always been curious about this...

In short, no one really knows. Fleer also had licensing problems with the Astros, though their exact nature isn't known. Check this link out for a guy who seemed to really research it...
