The great thing about Fenway (this coming from a Yankee fan, yes I can admit Fenway is a great park) is that, for all the renovations they've made, it still looks and feels like the same old ballpark. It's staggering to see a photo from the sixties or seventies, because if you hadn't you'd never guess how much it's changed. Must have something to do with that green paint, they probably have a massive stockpile of it stored up from the 40s or something...

I can't wait to go next week. I was actually just trying to figure out some details for the trek up.

One of the things I loved the most was sitting in the outfield grandstand, in the old blue seats from 1923. Little tiny uncomfortable chipped wooden chairs, but the experience was amazing. Hard to imagine all the people who have sat there over the past 80 years, watching Ted Williams, Johnny Pesky, Yaz. I think that's part of the magic of Fenway. I'd take one of those over a nice wide plastic seat anyday.

Good park, good team, fans need to get some sun and lose some weight.:D

Good job. Fenway deserves props.

I'm pretty sure there's already a Fenway thread with a ton of great pictures. Do a search, I'm sure it will come up if you look by title only.

Fenway is a great park, but when did they add those ridiculous Coke bottles?

Edgar.Martinez

The Coca-Cola bottles were put up in 1997. They were taken down during the fall 2007 renovations.

I wasn't sold on the Monster Seats when they first put them in, but the park looks so much better now that it looks unfinished without them. Same with the scoreboard taking up the full width of the Monster

Trust me I believe Fenway is the best ballpark in the game....however the Monster Seats are over rated. It's a gimick.....tasteful but still a gimick. Once in a lifetime is all you need. I would never sit out there again.

The box seats from 1st to the Monster are the best in baseball bar none.

I'm a fan of Fenway Park. My first baseball game ever was there in 1986 when Roger Clemens beat the Tigers and Ed Romero hit one up into the screen. However....

I can't stand the monster seats. I paid 30 bucks to stand up there one night. You're far from the field and after 10 minutes the novelty of being on top of the Green Monster wears off. I thought the net looked better anyway. I don't like how they've changed the scoreboard on the Green Monster by adding so much BS. I don't like how they knocked down some of the walls that had previously enclosed portions of the centerfield bleachers.

Despite these unfortunate changes Fenway's still great and I expect it to remain standing for many years to come.

Just finished moving and didn't have internet for a while... But I did make it up to Fenway for the Friday Mets/Sox game.. So here's some pictures if anyone cares....

Concourse shot... They added a "big concourse" so around there it is roomy, but for the most part it's a little cramped.

Favorite shot I took..

Such a 'small town' feeling around the ballpark. Everyone seems to be friends with eachother. A different feeling than in New York. They take donations for the local Jimmy Fund around Fenway..

Probably the best dog I had at a ballpark. The Fenway Frank. Very similar to the ones in Montreal if anyone had one.

Now for the best part and a long story... While driving there, My friend gets stopped by a Mass Pike state trooper, we were speeding, we gave him a gold PBA card, he doesn't care and my friend gets slapped with a $500 ticket. This delays our arrival. We get there at 7:30, the 3rd inning. We have to settle for the Lansdowne garage. What we didn't expect was this....

I had to slip the attendant a few bills to direct us out of the place. Then I give my buddy credit, for not hitting anyone getting out. That blue 'p' is where we had to leave from.

I never understood the appeal of the fenway frank. Then again, maybe thats because I got food poisoning the last time I had one...

If you ask me the dodger dog is the best in baseball.

I recently bought a 3-VHS tape set for $6.00 at a National Wholesale Liquidators store near home. This set contains color movie camera footage from the '30's to the '60's. Fenway is included there, with close-ups of Dom Di Maggio and Ted Williams (may they R.I.P.). The footage of the stands was eye-opening as there have been so many additions that have marred it in order to increase capacity. Thre was also footage of the bleachers and green monster. There may have been footage of Duffy's Cliff too, but I doubt it.

I tip my hat to the powers-that-be for putting the kibosh on a new stadium even though these additions are unsightly.

I went there once in 1998, rooting for the home team for that day. The seat was in the bleachers by the visiting bullpen. Some trolls in the stands made disparaging remarks to the White Sox relievers from the safety of the stands. The best thing was when a group of about 10 people wearing Yankee jerseys sauntered around the bleachers. I high-fived one of them, whispering that I was visiting from N.Y. too.

In the future, I'd like to go and have a seat in the grandstand and maybe get a mini figurine of the place. Regardless of how I feel about what populates Fenway's seats, I still see it as a national landmark and laud its preservation.

Let's talk nuts and bolts here for a minute. Just how rickety is Fenway Park getting to be in reality? It's really old. I hope it can hold out for a while longer!

i visited Fenway Park yesterday and it was the best baseball experience i have ever witness(going to wrigley on tuesday)
the 50% off certain food items from 5 to 6PM is an excellent idea.
I enjoyed how there was no gesture to the crowd to make noise or clap your hands.
The crowd was amazing getting a rally started.
getting over there from bergen county nj to Fenway was 4 1/2 hours going by car(1 hour wait near the mass pike cash only lane) and coming back 3 hours.
I reccomend any baseball fan to visit this baseball shrine.
tip park at the prudential center mall parking lot
its $16 and very easy to get to
its about a 10 minute walk from the mall to the park.
here are some hi res pics
i will post more pics later

Gotta go with the Monster Dawg just outside of Gate D. Costs $6.75 and is probably the size of four Fenway Franks put into one.

He speaks truth. The Monster Dog has actually decreased in price this season, which is incredible considering it was already the best deal in the park. It will considerably shorten your lifespan, but totally worth it.

Make 100% certain you stop by a proper concession stand after you leave El Tiante's with your monster dog (or, if you're on the monster, descend down below the lower deck down the LF line), so you can load up on spicy brown mustard, relish and onions. From El Tiante's, the closest is the home plate concession stand at the bottom of the ramp.

Actually, the one I went into was HUGE. Probably the biggest bathroom I have been in. It kinda looked like a warehouse. I wish I remembered where it was though. There wasn't a line at all.

I went to Fenway when the Red Sox were for sale back in '01 and I was expecting the men's rooms to be very dirty because it was built in 1912, but being surprised at how clean they were. Also I sat in the grandstand seating and as someone who is more than 6 feet tall it is very tough to sit because of the legroom.

Too bad the ads above the "Monster" seats block the Citgo sign; I've always considered it an unofficial part of Fenway Park.
