I found this shot from centerfield on line. Does anybody know where I can find a better copy of it? My grandfather was on the Giants team back then.

In the history of the game forum there's a vintage panoramic photos thread, it might be in there. Who was your grandfather?

Sorry, I don't actually have that one full-sized. Seems to be a pretty rare one...you can be sure I'll post it if I ever find it.

I had a relative from my mother's side, a second baseman named Billy Gilbert, on the Giant teams of the first decade of the century. I'd have to check the record, but I think he was done before 1912.

I did a Google image search for "Polo Grounds" "World Series" Giants "Red Sox" and came up with these two photos from the 1912 World Series (neither of them are quite like yours though)...

I can't find a better image of that photo on-line, but it looks like that photo is part of this collection:
McGreevey, Michael T. "Nuf Ced" Collection (Microtext Department, x2018; Print Department, x2280)
Donated by this owner of a Columbus Avenue saloon, this collection consists of more than 170 photographs of professional baseball in Boston and personal scrapbooks from the 1890’s to 1912. Originally displayed at McGreevey's tavern, Third Base, the photographs form the largest collection of its kind. The scrapbooks have been microfilmed and are on call number: GV865.M29A3.
You might contact a librarian at the Boston Public Library about getting a better image...

My grandfather was Ted Goulait. He was called up in September of 1912 and played with them through April of 1913.

Baseball Reference shows him pitching in one game in 1912 on September 28th. Unfortunately he got roughed up a bit. 7.0 IP, 11Hits, 4 BB, 5 ER

It doesn't look like he got to play in any of the post-season games.

Polo Grounds was one great looking baseball park in 1912!

I just got this low-res shot from a guy in the photo department at the Baseball Hall of Fame this afternoon. It's in considerably better condition than the one I posted earlier and it is not cut off on either end. I also found out that you can order high-res prints, which I did, directly from them.
