As many know, the record-holder for most strikeouts in a 9-inning professional baseball game goes to "Rocket Ron" Necciai, who fanned 27 in 9 innings. Necciai, who set his record in 1952, broke a record belonging to a left-handed pitcher who fanned 25 in a single game. This man still holds the record for most strikeouts by a left-handed pitcher in a 9-inning game. Name him.

I know it's not Steve Dalkowski. I believe his highest was 24 Ks in a game and he was after Necciai. I believe Dalkowski graduated high school in '56 or '57. Unless you count Dalkowski high school game where he struck out 24 I think or somewhere close to that, then that would around the same time as when Necciai had his record breaking performance.

It's a good question. I'm not sure. I could be wrong on the number 24 for Dalkowski, but for some reason that number is coming to my head though.

Steve blew away 24 guys in one game against Bluefield in 1957 but no, you're correct, that's not it. As I said, the guy I'm talking about at one time held the pro record. Necciai broke it in 1952.

Clarence "hooks" Lott struck out 25 for Paragould in the Northeast Arkansas League in 1941.

Correct...but you're supposed to try and remember these things, not look them up on google. And it's Iott with an "i" not "Lott."

I stand corrected.
