I found 5 with 10 or more at bats and no strikeouts vs Nolan.
Julian Javier 2-16 plus 1 BB
Tommy Helms 2-13
Carlos Baerga 6-10 plus 2 BB (he owned Ryan!)
Juan Bonilla 0-10 plus 1 BB
Bill Mazeroski 2-10 plus 1 BB
Honorable Mention to Fernando Valenzuela, 1-9 plus 2 sacrifices.

Looks like more than one.
Bill Mazeroski: no strike outs in 10 AB
Carlos Baerga: no strike outs in 10 AB
Tommy Helms: no strike outs in 13 AB
Julian Javier: no strike outs in 16 AB
Strangely enough, Fernando Valenzuela comes close to meeting the criteria with no strike outs in 9 AB.

That was weird. I think we posted about 1 second apart. After I hit submit, it returned to the thread and your post was there along with mine. Strange how we both picked up on Fernando.

My friend who told me the question and answer obviously had bad information. The answer he gave me was Fernando Valenzuela.

Here's another one:
Answer: Bill Hands
Your challenge is to figure out the question. HINT: It's related to this thread.

That's a pretty good answer (I mean question), but it's not the one I was looking for. Is 14 a record?

That's a pretty good answer (I mean question), but it's not the one I was looking for.The only other thing, er, question I know about Bill Hands is . . .
. . . who gave up five home runs to PITCHERS in, of all years, 1968?

Another fine question, but the question I'm looking for is closely related to the original question in this thread.

I don't recall the specific criteria, but while Ryan was active, Valenzuela was once the correct answer.

The bell just went off and Alex Trebek said that this round is now over.
The correct question is sort of the opposite of the original question. Nolan Ryan is a strikeout king, but Reggie Jackson is too. So, the question is "Who faced Reggie Jackson the most times without ever striking him out?"
Answer: Bill Hands - 15 ABs (or 16 PAs)

Mr. Trebek, I'd like to file a protest against the correct answer, too boring ;-)

Hey, just because you finished with -400 and won't be around for Final Jeopardy, don't take it out on me. I do have some lovely parting gifts for you, as well as a home version of our game. ;)

The way I have always heard it is that Fernando had the most at-bats (12) of any player who never struck out against Nolan Ryan. I never did verify it though.

Looks to me as if Fernando only had 9 AB in 11 PA. I think Javier is best in both AB (16) and PA (18.)
