mlb network is now showing a 1970 expos-pirates game. Broadcast quality slightly higher than the Apollo 11 mooncast. CBC apparently couldn't spring for a centerfield camera.

I believe the game tape is actually a kinescope of the original. And yes I notice the lack of a camera too.

Yes, strangely, CBC was still making kinescopes even then. Not sure why since they were also using videotape by that time, but several Expos games from that era I have seen clips from were on kinescope.
Since we don't get MLB Network in Canada, who is the broadcast team? Hal Kelly and Jim Hearn?

I thought it was a kinescope as well because it was almost impossible to follow the ball, and the ballpark looked very dark.

CBC used kinescopes through 1970 before switching to tape in 1971 - the kinescopes were used to ship shows across the country to be shown in remote areas - it's great that some survived. I've seen many video clips from 1971-1973 in colour so hopefully they'll dig some of those games up some day.
