Ordered this today for my father who followed Brooklyn and still follows LA today(and the Mets).

In the previews they showed on PBS, the following analyses were made regarding the demographics of both the Brooklyn Dodgers and the NY Yankees and of the fans they were alleged to have attracted:

NYY: "Upper-middle to upper class, conservative fans who admire an indomitable dynasty" of a ballclub, "sharply dressed", "almost in pinstripe business suits".

BD: "Lower-middle to middle-class blue-collars, of liberal or conservative stripe, who adore a team comprised of folks just like them" who aren't afraid to play their hearts out even against power-houses like the NY Yankees & Giants of that era, while dresesd in brash, outspoken uniforms with scripted logos and bright colored jersey numbers.

Anyone's opinions of those analyses?

I don't know whether the NYY analysis is true but the Dodger one is spot-on. I am going to have to get this DVD.

Anything on the Giants type of fan? In one book they were described as "insufferable while the Giants are winning, invisible while they are losing" but it did not go into demographics.
