What are they, and by whom?
A) Pitcher
B) Batter
This should be a good thread, as there will be various opinions....
Lowest number what?
Lowest shirt number? Well Reese, Doerr, Ozzie smith, Ashburn All had #1 on their back.
Might want to be slightly more specific. :hide:

....not in the HOF though.
Cy Young, Ty Cobb and others were numberless. Can't get any lower than that.
I'm guess the original poster was talking about career numbers of Hall of Famers that were elected based on their playing careers. The least number of Homers is Ray Schalk with 11. Least number of RBI's is 538 by Johnny Evers. Schalk's .253 batting average just edges out Harmon Killebrew (.256) for lowest average.

Yes, sorry, I surely needed to clarify that. That's what I meant. Sorry!

Well, if you want to be technical about all of those, you have to include pitchers. Especially those like Rich Gossage, Bruce Sutter and Dennis Eckersley that either played mostly in the AL post-DH or as closers rarely batted.
Sorry, just being literal!
