Hey guys.. as a Yankee fan, I've been watching New Yankee Stadium go up since day 1 and most of us know it pretty well.. since the Indians were the first (official) series in NYS.. i'm just interested to hear an opposing team's view of the new stadium (besides that obvious gluttony of right field HRs).
What are your views of the new stadium?

Hm... I've seen pictures of it, and it's hard not to be overwhelmed be the architecture and all. But on the other hand I don't like this "let's built some sort of big mall looking like an airport terminal and have the people guessing if somewhere in there the field itself is hidden" - you seem to be able to do ANYTHING in there... oh, yes, and if you STILL have time, you may also watch a game. But only if you still have time.
This is the impression I get. Not only with NYS, but in general. Don't like this tendency, but it's not likely going to change.
As to the NYS: it IS impressive.
But as a tribe-fan I refuse everything yankee-related :D

"My views are pretty much the same as GoTribe's."

I got to OYS just once, and that was last year. Since I had no "in-person" experience or memories before that and I am a confirmed Yankee hater (jealous), I was underwhelmed with it. It reminded me of Cleveland Muni when I was in the concourses. Fenway was much prettier on the inside, in the seating bowl.
The new place looks amazing and is gorgeous on the outside and I'm sure it is amazing inside. The one thing I don't get about it is the venom that it is attracting on the Ballparks Board from Yankee fans. Guys- nothing lasts forever- Fenway and Wrigley will eventually go away too. You will always have OYS as a memory. Enjoy the new place, the dozens of World Series rings and endless cash for payroll. The lesson to be learned here is- Greed and the absolute need to be the best earned you those rings and that payroll. It also earned you the ridiculous ticket prices and the loss of your old place. Gotta have the good and the bad. Tell C.C. I said Hi.

I visited the Old Yankee Stadium and was also underwelmed. Once inside it was pretty awing but the outside was dingy and glum. I wish they would have gone away from some of the traditions with the new park. Even though you mentioned it already, the overdose of home runs cheapens the park to me. Those dimensions just dont work in today's game with bigger stronger players. They should have moved back the porches and i wish they would have brought the true Death Valley back. The new park is nice but it better be for 1.5 billion dollars. However, i have been to other new parks (SF, SD, Pitt to name a few off the top of my head) that i prefer to NYS.
