Without looking too closely.... looks like the barrel is trapped behind the a bit too much and there is a bit of bat drag going on. It's hard to tell with the white sweatshirt and quality of the video.
Weight transfer looks pretty good.

YA some bat drag. Looks like he is barring his left arm when he loads his hands again hard to tell with that shirt on.

Good observation, this is the birth of the dreaded arm bar. Look how his arm disconnect from his shoulders and automatically causes his front arm to lose the L shape.
He needs to let his arms and shoulders start the swing in one motion along with proper weight shift. Again I would suggest One arm drill's with a tee ball bat and weight shift drill. After doing these drills he will have a faster bat speed and more power. It will take him a week of swings with the one handed drill to get constancy with his weight shift timing. Also have a very compact swing.
After that than teach him opposite field hitting. He will be grinning in two weeks of fun hard work.

Coach G and Drill,
Can you explain exactly what you guys mean by "barring the front arm"?
Do you suggest lead arm or top hand (rear arm) "one arm" drills or both?

One thing I notice he may need to do, is keep his weight on back leg when ready to swing.
Looks like he's shifting his weight from front foot to back foot, then forward again......kind of like a golf swing.

Barring the lead arm is when the lead arm straightens prior to or while launching. Leads to disconnection issues. Swing is usually long and loopy, with hitter just dragging bat through with top arm.
When the flexion is lost that early usually leads to bat drag. Inability to adjust to pitch locations...esp inside pitches.
Causes: of this IMO are strength issues. I have seen alot of young hitters with this problem. Their brain tells them they need something extra to create bat speed due to lack of strength and their body usually comes up with this type action.
Solutions: make sure he maintains closer distance between hands and shoulders(back shoulder) I usually use the length of tip of thumb to tip of middle finger. Any thing over this distance is too far. When he loads his upper half focus on top hand/arm doing the loading. If bottom hand is dominating the upper half load it will usually lead to barring of lead arm.
No expert but just my observations and experience

Swing looks much better ..hands are moving in the right direction .....have him take some swings close to the net (fence drill) without hitting the net and he won't be able to bar.
Just saw a super slo-mo of ALbert's HR from last night and he nearly had full arm bar....there have been lengthy discussions on that topic here before.

Ya i saw that too, he also pulled the ball that was down and away. Sometimes the arm has to straighten to adjust to pitches but shouldn't until that adjustment time comes. Pujols can also squat my truck and probably bench press my boat.
