Any drills/tips on keeping the lead shoulder closed when delivering the ball to home? When I am pitching my front shoulder flys open to the point were I am leaning backwards? Any help?

It may be a problem with your glove side. Does you glove fly off to the side when you pitch or do you tuck it in to your chest?

I think it also could have to do with your back side. If you scap load properly(fire the back shoulder back while the hips start to open) the shoulder should remain closed in most cases.

This is a glove hand side problem. I'm willing to bet when you make a throw from the field it's worse.

It sound to me he is throwing across his body instead of setting and throwing down the line. Just for the heck of it have him stride on the mound as far as he can.

Also have him stand on the foul ball line and have him throw down the line, you will than be able to see where the throwing arm ends up.

It's good practice for me and I lost my ability to throw batting cage zones years ago.

IMHO,

I looked at some pictures from when I was pitching and my glove is kind of off to the side it is not really in my chest? Do I need to work on keeping it closer to my body?

Try focusing on pulling your front elbow into your torso instead of pulling your glove outside your body.

Keep your hips closed longer.

Think of it as pulling your chest to your glove.
