I was watching our game last night and noticed that both of our pitchers were leaving the ball up more then they usually do. It just so happened that my son was one of them, so I asked what was the deal. He said their mound was lower and less sloped then ours. He also said that in order for him to try to keep the ball down he felt like he needed to length his stride. I did noticed that he "dipped" or was lower when he was releasing the ball. It looked like he wasn't "throwing over his front leg", if you know what I mean.
My questions are.....
1. Should pitchers adjust their stride for the different mound heights and slopes?
2. If they do, should they shorten or lengthen it?
-- I thought he should have shortened his stride so he could come down more, but he said he tried in the bull pen and actually left the ball up more
Any experience or advice on this would be great!
