They(Mets) really have no one who really is enthusiastic about Shea history and if they are they are afraid to say anything. The infield area should be marked alot better than they're planning. I still think the Atlanta(fulton County) idea is best and would keep the lot plans unaltered. They should remove the curbs in that area so people can play when there's no game.

There is a "sidewalk" artist ,Julian Beever, who can paint on the floor and he's so good that his images appear to be 3-D and real. It would be very cool for him to be commisioned to paint Endy,Agee,Swoboda,Seaver and the Beatles in the lot-and again it wouldn't alter parking plans one bit.

Since they're not going to do more than what we've been hearing, hiring julian Beaver to do something "amazing" is a no brainer. Check his work you won't believe it.

Sadly, I get the feeling that the Mets Organization has no desire to anything more than the bronze bases and Pitching Rubber. They have no desire to preserve the history. Atlanta Did do it right - Of all the things they copied from other stadiums they left this out.

Mabye Fred Wilpon will put a plaque on the site that reads...

I e-mailed Julian about this. I hope there's a way to do this. Listen, you know when all is said and done we're all going to the Citi field parking lot and stand there and try to feel all that once happened there and where everything once was. Tell the truth. Thats why were at this site because we give a crap. Were not the everyday fan. We care a little bit more. That's why there's a concerned fan with a thread, trying to save Yankee Stadium the best he can ,and he should. So should we about Shea memories.

I posted this also in the Shea Demolition thread.

Here's the Turner Field - Fulton County Stadium footprint in Atlanta. The red box shows the outfield section of the wall was kept by the Braves. It's where Hank Aaron hit his 715 HR in 1974. The Mets should do something like this. I'm a Yankee fan and I would think this is the best thing to do. I would save the mound area and put a statue of Tom Seaver there. I would probably put a statue of Cleon Jones where he caught the final out of the 1969 World Series. I might even mark the Bill Buckner spot also. Also a close-up of the Hank Aaron spot.
