So I work for Frito Lay and the Padres club house put in an order yesterday so I got to deliver the order this morning. I show up then park in the players parking garage and get a ride to the club house. The club house manager shows me the entire club house from the weight room, media room, batting cages, bud blacks office, the other coaches office, bat boys room, laundry room haha and just all around the middle of the club house. It was the coolest experience to see and be able to check out what most people never get to see in person. Just wanted to tell everyone haha.

Petco is gorgeous -- and pretty cool, considering it's situated right at the heart of the Gaslamp District.

San Diego is an awesome city....just got back from there last week, and I'm not exactly sure why I came home. :crazy

Beautiful park, gorgeous city, great area that they put the park in, and wonderful weather. San Diego is a dream city.

Yeah SD is a great place to live in lucky for me I was born and raised here and still live here haha. And your right Petco Park is very nice and I love going to games and it has made downtown so much nicer then it used to be. Im excited for another opening day and hope the padres can do alright this year cuz i will be going to a lot of games.

I went on the tour in 2005. It's a beautiful ballpark. I liked the part where they kept an old warehouse and joined it to the park. Very, very cool.

I will be there next weekend and cannot wait. It's the only ballpark west of the Mississippi that I have yet to see in person.

A damn shame about the name, "The Dog Bowl".

The name takes the shine off what should be something to be proud of. Hard to be proud of "The Dog Bowl".

Funny, I've never heard anyone else refer to this ballpark as "the dog bowl". :ooo:

Looking at those plasmas in the clubhouse, and man how technologies changes in 4 years. Those were probably double the price and prob don't look as good.

The funny part is how they have those plasmas then next to them they have the old school cube TV's haha. Those pics are about 3 years old now and I didnt really look at the TV's when I went in on tuesday so they might be updated lol. And yeah ive never heard it be called the dog bowl.

So, what have you heard?

The only stadium name worse was Enron Field.

I had heard "the litter box" once or twice before... locally, it's just Petco and I once remember reading an article in the paper where a journalist referred to it as "The Pet". I know, it's lame. I don't like ballparks named after these businesses either but oh well.

You know I actually first haaaaaaated Petco but it grew on me and I like it a lot now. When you just say Petco Park it doesnt sound bad.

If they did that up here we'd still be making fun of it.

Well, there's corporate names, and then there's corporate names, it's not like they're all created equal. Hell, Unisys spent millions for it's new name and image.

Hell, there's not one single corporate named park I do like. I don't like AT&T Park, even when it was PacBell "The Bell" never took hold cuz it's lame.
But it sure is easy to find the one easiest to mock.

There's a lot of denial down your way.

And again, it kinda ruins what should be something to be proud of; a nice downtown park. Well, as downtown as SD gets anyway.

That's not a slam, not many downtowns worth the name on the west coast. I grew up in San Jose, I know about no downtown.

Hell, L.A. doesn't have a real downtown.

Anyway I kinda laugh every time I hear "Petco Park". Sorry, horrible name. Shoulda gone with a Cerveza man. Modelo or something. ;-)

Adelitas Park?

Its a corporation that paid the local team several millions to put its name on the stadium, I don't lose sleep over it.

I wish they just could have come up with some more aesthetically pleasing signage, they really cheaped out when it came to the sign on top of the scoreboard.

Fantastic. A start, a middle and a completed product! Several have mentioned how they like how the old warehouse was incorporated into the design of the park . . . I like it too! Very much.
