Compared with what alternative?
Compared with possibly needing a mid-season replacement?

DeRosa is a quality player who will do a fine job at third. The issue with DeRosa is that he can play almost every position and he suffers for it as the Indians management will see that he is valuable everywhere and will start bouncing him around. He will be fine but may not stay at third because of the fact that he can play multiple positions well. I hope that he has the chance to prove himself.

I like DeRosa and I give him credit. He's really matured and developed as a baseball player. Before he left Atlanta, he struggled mightily at 3B thus creating the return of Chipper Jones to the position. I'm glad to see him having success in the majors.

Most Cubs fans hated to see DeRosa go. He's a guy that will give it everything he's got, which is quite a bit. He may not be Babe Ruth, but he'll generate runs for your team and he's good with the glove too. DeRosa should be an excellent addition to your team.

Lots of teams have scored big despite not having an All-Star, or even a true regular, at third base.
The Indians have bigger questions and bigger problems than DeRosa at third. They have the issue of Travis Hafner, who has become an ordinary player with a superstar contract at 1B/DH. They have the issue of Jhonny Peralta, who has rebounded with the bat somewhat, but whose ability to play SS is becoming affected by loss of mobility. They have the issue of Fausto Carmona, who went from stud to dud in a year, and of Cliff Lee, who was great last year, but whose production from year to year is rather unpredictable.
DeRosa is what he is. His 2008 season wasn't a fluke, but it was probably a peak year. He's probably not going to be as good in 2009, but stranger things have happened. DeRosa IS a good glove, he IS versatile (a poor man's Gil McDougald), and, most importantly, he's the best option the Tribe has at third. The Mets went all the way in 1969 with Wayne Garrett and Ed Charles sharing third base. DeRosa's a way better option than that.

The player to be named later is a dozen bats and a case of beer.
