Next time some one acts ignorant in your section you can snitch on them via text!
FAN ASSISTANCE NUMBER - (347) 545-2002
The purpose of the Citi Field Fan Assistance Number is to provide fans attending a game or event at Citi Field a method of contacting the operational elements of Citi Field to resolve outstanding issues.
Fans will be able to contact the Command Post by either calling or text messaging the number. All contact from fans will be answered immediately by the Command Post staff and the issue responded to in a manner prescribed by the Command Post Supervisor.
The Mets encourage our fans to use this number to alert management to maintenance, cleaning and fan comfort issues, but matters of safety and security will be considered priority calls and take precedent over all others.
The Fan Assistance Number will be operational on game/event days from the time gates open until gates close.

Your argument here hinges on the notion that Wilpon was powerless because Doubleday still had a 50% share in the team.
This is ridiculous.
As soon as Wilpon became a full partner, the influx of bland losers that's become a Wilpon hallmark began. This is indisputable. Some guy has even started an entire blog about it called The Wilpon Curse.
http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:KQA7fj75IZsJ:thewilponcurse.blogspo t.com/+wilpon+mcreynolds+trade&cd=7&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a
He's been helpful enough to supply us with a time line of disastrous changes Wilpon wrought:
The Wilpon Curse Phase I: Dismantling the Champions (1986-1990)
Rumors have surfaced since the winter of 1986 that the Mets were trying to establish a more fan-friendly tone, complete with players who were more well-behaved than the notoriously rowdy '86 Championship team. While those rumors have never been proven or disproven, it is a trend that has haunted Mets fans since 1986 - a team that often seems to be more concerned with image than winning. It can never be said how many of the good or bad decisions belonged to Doubleday, Wilpon, GM Frank Cashen or a combination of all three, but here are some lowlights from that time period:
* Ray Knight is Not Resigned - This is generally regarded as a major reason why the Mets stumbled in 1987 - Knight was the 1986 Comeback Player of the Year in addition to being a team leader. Knight declined to appear at Shea Stadium for the 20 year anniversary celebration of the '86 team - reportedly due to his displeasure at the team's handling of his situation at the end of that season.
* The Mets Trade a Kevin for a Kevin - In another bad decision following the '86 Series, the Mets trade Kevin Mitchell for Kevin McReynolds, under the premise that Mitchell was a bad influence on Darryl Strawberry and Doc Gooden. Gooden begins the 1987 season in drug rehab and both he and Strawberry end up with highly publicized drug problems for over a decade - a decade that sees each player win World Series rings with the Yankees. Mitchell goes on to become one of the most feared sluggers in the National League, winning the MVP and leading the Giants to a World Series appearance in 1989.
* The Future is Jefferies (Maybe Not) - In an effort to clear the way (and the clubhouse) for budding star Gregg Jefferies, the Mets make a series of moves in 1989 - Lenny Dykstra, Roger McDowell, Gary Carter, Randy Myers, Rick Aguilera, Mookie Wilson, Wally Backman , Keith Hernandez and others all leave New York.
While Hernandez/Carter/Wilson were already on the downside of his careers, Backman was a member of the 1990 Pittsburgh team that wins the NL East, while Dykstra was a key component of the 1993 National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies. Aguilera and Myers went on to become successful closers - Myers won the World Series in 1990 and Aguilera won it with the Twins in 1991.
Meanwhile, Jefferies has a terrible time in New York and he failed to achieve any modicum of success until years after he left the city.
* Firing Davey Johnson - The Mets fired manager Davey Johnson during the 1990 season. Johnson had won 90 or more games in five of his first six seasons and had never won fewer than 87 games in a season (1989). Johnson was replaced by former Mets SS Bud Harrelson and the team finished the season with 91 victories. Johnson went on to win division titles with Cincinnati and Baltimore. Harrelson would be fired in the middle of the 1991 season.
But, of course, you know everything better than everybody, and nobody can tell you anything different... And if anyone tries, you shout them down with boldface capitals and absurdist analogies that make no sense.
I await your inevitable next such post with resignation.

The new trees in front of the stadium look great and I noticed new advertising signs on the promenade as well as a touch screen Verizon kiosk that had all sorts of local information, mets ino, and CF info.
But, you know, I am a villain and Wilpon's bestest friend for insisting the park is not finished.

Whenever ESPN is broadcasting the game (like last night), seat 4 in the first few rows of 514 is completely blocked by their camera.
The guy in row 1 was pissed last night, he was offered new seats "1 1/2 sections over" (towards 1B) by the ticket office but didn't take them. Last night he complained and they moved him to the last row of 414, right next to the problem camera.
No one was next to me in Row 2 last night but they wouldn't have been able to see either. I am not sure how they fix this but it is ridiculous.
Also, first row of my section (especially kids) is having issues with the railing blocking their view unless their sit a certain way. I think they need a different style railing next year.
(Gee I hope Fred was right when he told me I should post something negative so as not to blow my cover)

Make up your mind.
Wilpon was/is hands on. Doubleday was hands off. And Wilpon was/is very domineering. That's how he was able to worm his way in from a very very minority stake to complete ownership of the team, forcing Doubleday completely out. It's unsurprising that the Mitchell/McReynolds trade, which would set the tone for the next 23 years, went down within a few weeks of Wilpon usurping a controlling share.
As has been noted all over the internet, the influx of bland indifferent players began immediately after Wilpon took a controlling interest in the team and has continued unabated ever since.
Just do a Google search of: "Wilpon" and "image conscious"

You'll find page after page of hits that back up the contention that keeping it bland has been a Wilpon objective for years. I've already cited a couple that directly blame him for ruining the championship team of the 1980s.
But I guess you're right and everybody else is wrong, as usual.

The fact is Wilpon has been a full owner of the team since November of 1986 which is when the horrible decisions that would soon leave the team in ruins began. The record is clear and links have been provided.

Watching the game at home on the television, I noticed there's now a Citi Field logo to the right of the rotating ads behind home plate. Prior to that there was just the logo to the left, as seen here...

What a game last night! I was sitting in promedade 525 (I heard all the philly fans in 524) for half the game and then moved down to stand in CF because we had to get more beer before the 7th ended. The game went by at a quick pace and before we knew it was last call!! Last nights game was a pleasure to watch, an old school pitchers dual and the ballpark is playing the way it should. Johan and Park both pitched well but the mets caughts a break on the error throw to first and 1 run was all it took. It was nice to watch a pitchers dual and not a home run debry.
Some thoughts, the beer stand in center field with 20 beers is great! I cant stand bud lights and nice to see a real choice in beers at a ballpark. The crowd was really into the game, and being a rival game it was cool too see the taunting between both group of fans. There was alot of chanting after the game was over. I like that there are a lot of great places/view points to watch the game. I plan on getting a burger from the shake shack one of these games but the line is always so long (my friend didnt want to stand on line). I met alot of cool people just hanging out in different standing areas. Also with all the fans wearing orange and blue the stadium is filled with mets colors.

I have no problem with fans vigorously rooting for the opposing team at the stadium. But in my experience at Shea, some Philly fans were the worst at unprovoked, personal (and filthy) attacks against Mets fans. Loud, passionate, boisterous cheering is all part of the live baseball experience... but - - again, in my own experience - - their behaviour always seemed to go outside those bounds and ruined the experience for everyone within shouting distance.
It may have just been a few people or bad luck on my part, but this year - - now that I'm bringing my son to the games - -I'm avoiding the ones against Philly.

Yea please! Philly fans!
Now that their team has finally won something NOW they have become passionate. Phillies fans in the past used to strike me as the most unpassionate and non caring about that team, maybe the 76ers were a close second.
Anyone who knows anything about Philadelphia sports knows that its clearly an Eagles town first, then the Flyers, then the Phillies.

But, of course, you know everything better than everybody, and nobody can tell you anything different... And if anyone tries, you shout them down with boldface capitals and absurdist analogies that make no sense.
I await your inevitable next such post with resignation.
There is a big anti-Wilpon twist to that blog.
I'll give you not resigning Knight seemed like a big mistake, and it had most Mets fans deeply confused, but he was a bust in Baltmore in '87, and was out MLB after '88. And his replacement was the best switch hitter in team history, Howard Johnson.
And firing Davey Johnson was a huge mistake too. But in an ego clash with the GM, the manager always looses.
And I agree fans like teams with fire like the '86 Mets and the '77 Yanks, but they pay to see winners regardless of off the field antics.
But Backman was the only really bad trade.
And don't forget they picked up Darling and Terrill for a washed up Mazzilli. Terrill was traded for Howard Johnson. Not a bad series of moves.
The writer is off base with the Kevin for Kevin trade. McReynolds was a feared hitter in the late '80s, not a superstar but a good bat and glove. And every year he was in the top 10 in one or another category.
The Mets traded Mitchell, knowing he could hit, because they had no place to play him. He was an horredous glove in th OF and 3B. Ron Darling used to rate his games with +/- like you would for a hockey player because for every hit he got he blew a defensive play.
And don't forget he wore out his welcome in SD pretty fast. Also he never put a second full season together like his MVP year although he had some killer 300-400 AB years.
Gregg Jefferies was tabbed by the entire universe as the next superstar. It didn't happen for many reasons including his own head and his inability to make friends with his teammates, but McDowell and Myers were a bigger a** for trying to ostracize him.
Still the Dykstra & McDowell for Samuel trade is one of the dumbest in team history. Samuel didn't want to play CF or be in NY, so they get him and play him there anyway. And Dykstra's best year was a steriod driven run to body breakdown.
Myers was traded for John Franco and we all know how bad that trade turned out.
Aguilera was traded for Viola who won 20 and finished third in the CYA voting. Not a bad trade, but in the long run the Twins made out better.
Mookie was a fourth outfielder with out much left when they traded him to Toronto. Carter, and Hernandez were done when they were traded. Darling didn't have much left.
Met fans were sick of Strawberry when he signed with the Dodgers and couldn't believe how bad they wanted him. Most of us felt good riddance to bad rubbish.

I said Wilpon had a full ownership share; full ownership as opposed to a minority share. Nothing more. He usurped that in November 1986. We are at a baseball game for god sakes. Somebody has to do something but i guess u cant stop philadelphians from being ********. its was awesome to see the mets win and finally shut them up.
That sucks dude. I guess you couldn't have done anything if they were in numbers. The problem is that even though this was at the Mets ballpark, most Mets fans probably just came with a few friends or family members... and not in huge numbers like some of the Philly fans. It's a bigger deal for them to make the trip than it is for Mets fans. And even though the majority of people are Mets fans and can easily shut those Philly fans up, most of them are not together, therefore don't know eachother, and probably won't back you up in a fight but just watch instead. That's probably how it is when Mets fans get a group of 15 and go to Philly also.

Just do a Google search of: "Wilpon" and "image conscious"
http://www.google.com/search?q=wilpon+%22image+conscious%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
You'll find page after page of hits that back up the contention that keeping it bland has been a Wilpon objective for years. I've already cited a couple that directly blame him for ruining the championship team of the 1980s.
But I guess you're right and everybody else is wrong, as usual.
Just to give two more examples for you.
Remember the Klapish/Harper hatchet job of a book called The Worse Team Money Could Buy? There is a part there were Wilpon nearly embarrasses then perpetual batchleor Cone in front of some youngsters by saying that the team would hope he'd settle down.
And don't forget the long rumored urban legend about how the Mike Piazza trade came to be. Wilpon instructed Steve Phillips to give the "we aren't interested" speech to the media, and to tell Todd Hundley that Hundley's job as starting catcher was secure when he would return from the DL.
Apparantly Doubleday was listening to Mike & The Mad Dog on WFAN imploring the Mets to go after Piazza. Next thing you know, Piazza is a Met! First ever interview on with Mike & Chris, Piazza jokeningly "thanked" them for the hand they played in getting Piazza to New York.

But the writer is off base with the Kevin for Kevin trade.
The Backman trade bad.
I never said I agreed with everything this guy wrote. I do agree with his overall point, though, which is that Wilpon's "image consciousness" has been the defining characteristic of the franchise for the last 23 years, and is the direct cause of all the colorless gutless teams we've seen over that time.
And I do feel I must mention that McReynolds put up the emptiest most meaningless numbers I've ever seen.
McReynolds, who once famously said he'd rather be hunting than playing in the World Series, was the purest example of the typical Wilpon player and set the standard for the kind of attitude we've generally seen on the Mets ever since.

At the end of the day, the thing that makes the Mets so hard for me to watch nowadays is the joylessness they play with. Winners don't play with joylessness, and the team's joylessness has long seemed imposed from above.

I remember McReynolds saying that. And his wife going on the FAN to defend him.
But I don't agree his numbers were meaningless his whole Mets tenure Until he started eating himself out of a job in mid '89 he was pretty productive.
He was 3rd in MVP in '88 and a big, yet dull part of some very colorful yet underachieving teams.
And don't think I didn't live and die with those teams, I did but lets face it they were hands down the best team in baseball from 1984-1990 and really don't have much to show for it.

I've certainly always gotten the impression that Wilpon cannot stand negative press and typically will react to either prevent it or put a stop to it whether that be player moves or other issues not having to do with players. For a recent example: see the announcement about a Mets museum being put in at Citi Field. That wasn't mentioned at all until the bad press about the lack of a museum surfaced.

Probably the best all around Mets experience at CF so far, at last night's game.
Phillie fans throughout the field level and especially down in RF Baseline Box were very quiet throughout, especially after Delgado scored.
Almost (dare I say it) a little good will for Mets and Phils alike? Phillies BP, Hamels getting grief down the RF line for 20 minutes, deke-ing throwing baseballs to the fans, etc., until a family showed up with a little girl and he promptly came over and gave her a ball, to applause all around.
Also, early is the key - Shake Shack line was only 2 or 3 deep at around 5:00 - but by 5:45 or so, 100 deep.
Best line of the night was from a Phillie fan though. Long line at the restroom extending back through the concourse, Phillie fan cuts across to get past, saying "World Champion coming through." Lot of grief from Mets fans who didn't want to lose their place in line, but also a few laughs.
Great night all around.

TONIGHT: Chevrolet will have 60 Camaros on display in Citi Field’s parking lot (on the third base side of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda) for Mets fans
to take an historic first glimpse…After tonight’s game, New York-area dealers will drive them back to their dealerships for delivery…The Camaro is

He was 3rd in MVP in '88 and a big, yet dull part of some very colorful yet underachieving teams.
He was third, and Strawberry got robbed by Kirk Gibson, because Hernandez did a campaign job AGAINST Strawberry and PRO McReynolds.
The Mets split the NY vote and Gibson stole the election.
Pure and simple, McReynolds placed third only because Hernandez DIDN'T want Strawberry to win that award (read Peter Golenbock's book Amazin' for that tidbit)

A few seconds after posting I realized that I referred to a part of CF in shorthand (Pepsi Porch as just "the porch")
and I'm pretty sure most readers knew exactly what part of the park I was referring to.
Does anyone get that with "Mo' Zone"?
The "zone" doesn't seem to fit for some reason.
What do most people call that part of right field?
For defenders and batters alike, it's certainly this park's Green Monster
and it kind of begs for a cool (non-sponsor) name.
I've been calling it "the notch" but I'm open to suggestions.

Last night I had section 106, it pretty good, couldn't see the notch where the Mo'Zone is, but whatever.
There were a few Mets fans rooting for Chan Ho Park with the Korean flag, talk about split allegiances. Apparently some people don't know what the Korean flag looks like "Is that Japan? I think that is Japan."
I sat next to a Yankee fan, we discussed other ballparks and he said "Well, this stadium is nice, but it isn't METSIE enough - Yankee Stadium, you know it is the Yankees" I responded "Well, it is a copy of Yankee Stadium. It should be"
Shake Shack line seems to be moving better each time I go there, Blue Smoke in the 5th inning was so quick - plus they added BBQ sauce at the condiment stands. Squirt to your own liking.
Phillies fans were parading around the Field Level concourse chanting, blah blah. After I got my Blue Smoke Pulled Pork, my friend and I stood by the beginning of the Bridge watching the game.
I believe that the fans on the bridge heckling the other team should be called "Bridge Trolls".
RF Reserved was totally on Jayson Werth, chanting "Werth-less" for pretty much the whole night. There was a gaggle of Phillies fans on the bridge waving there 2008 Banner all night - a bunch of Mets fans were shouting back, but it got bad when NYPD came, and a few Mets fans were thrown out the stadium.
Some Mets fan said something when things were getting sorted out - I didn't hear what but the Security Supervisor said "This isn't the BRONX!" and asked for his ticket, then he was out the park.
I just don't understand why in a shouting match, the Mets fans get kicked out but the Phillies fans can stay and watch the game. If this was CBP, I bet the Mets fans would be kicked out.
Oh well, great game.

Yeah, I'm aware of that part as well. HCG can be used to restore the body after using anabolic steroids.
Wouldn't Manny have tested positive sometime prior for if he was trying to mask anabolic steroids? If he was negative in prior tests, and just started coming up positive this spring, what does that say?

Absolutely, compared to NYS, it is not at all Metsie. As I was in the 'Museum', it made me feel like we were somewhat cheated. My God, even the tissue paper the pretzels are wrapped in and the hot-dog boats have the emblem on them.
The one thing that I made NYS more appealing than citifield was the amount of space in the common areas. Oh wait.... was that just because there was no one there

god could they at least remove that last picnic table that really blocks out the side of the apple..they really just dropped it there without a care in the world didnt they. What if you wanted to take a group shot? now you have a picnic table blocking off part of the view...
You know, when they first put the Apple there, the picnic tables weren't there. There was plenty of room for people to line up and to take pictures. I couldn't believe it when they put all those tables there. At first, I figured they were just storing the tables there temporarily, to be relocated to other areas of the ballpark. But they're still there. It really doesn't make any sense - there are no concessions nearby, so very few people actually use those tables to eat on. I don't get it.

i know people will call me silly for saying so, but I think it kinda shows that they really only brought that thing to shut up us fans who wanted it brought over...i dont get why that thing didnt get a better display area which could have had something talking a little bit about the history of the apple.

Take heart; if they had the Yankees' mindset, you'd be charged a double fee for apple proximity and picnic table usage.

A problem I noticed with Phillies Fans vs. Mets Fans in the stands is that security wears that brick color and that was a problem on Wednesday because a pack of Phillies fans causing a problem looks bigger because of all the security guys running in to calm things down.
Maybe they should've picked less of a Phillie-ish color.

Here in San Antnonio tonight I flipped early between the three telecasts of the Mets game. Costas with the MLB Network was poetic as usual. He changed his mind about the play that got Jerry tossed. First he seemed to agree that Victorino was interfered with by Reyes but then said no, that Victorino forced contact with Reyes. Then he said that Victorino, knowing that he was going to be out in the run down made a smart play. It kept him on base.
Leiter was reasonably informative. They both did a nice job.
Was that McCarthy again doing the Phillie Broadcast? Lawd! I couldn't listen to him for too long. I think I turned after he discussed the passing of Danny Ozark, and that was at the very beginning of the game. I think I'd trust the late Captain Jack McCarthy before trusting what this guy says.
Gary Cohn is always solid. And while he works for the Mets I don't view him as a homer who won't tell you the truth. He tells you if a Met made a bad play and will marvel at a sparkling play by the opponent, unlike some broadcasters. Keith is alright but I like listening to Darling more.

I think the park plays fair. I really like that the dimension are deep but reachable, and the taller walls will make for some interesting plays. Alot of MLB parks are short dimensions, its nice to see a ballpark where the game will be played differently. OYS in death valley was 499ft, prob was unreachable for a homerun. The furthest in citifield is 415 which is deep for todays standards. Its nice to watch the game play more within fair terrority(more doubles, triples, driving in runs instead of homeruns) Homeruns will favor to leftys with the pepsi porch overhanging the field. If you think about generations ago, the great players of past eras dealt with unfavorable dimensions yet still hit many homeruns. Usually short down the line but deep in the outfield. Todays ball players are stronger and playing in smaller ballparks. It shows the strength many of the great past ballplayers had to hit homeruns with deep dimensions.
I like the type of baseball being played in citifield, pitchers park replying more on the small ball and a long ball hit here and there.

Ah. Sometimes I record the game when I go, but I didn't tonight. Where else did he go? What else did he have to say? I would have liked to see that.
Made his way about mid-game to get tacos, and they had him roped off with like 5 security guys because it was getting crazy, said he's definitely running for office, lol. Said as a joke that Burkhardt called in sick so this is "your man on the street" from CF. Taco guy then came out with his order, then they lost him for a while and found him in front of the Acela restaurant in the front aisle, having a glass of wine with his feet up, hilarious. But after the commercial break they decided to hook him up doing remotes for the rest of the game, so at the restaurant vantage point again he said things like seeing the game from that angle reminded him of his childhood, that the field definitely was very large and he could see better how deep the gaps were. From there he made his way right next to the dugout, with Burkhardt. It was then he commented on the dugouts being further from home, etc. He stayed there the rest of the game, I believe, and they were the usual 3-man team with Ronnie asking Keith how a certain batter looked, etc.. Keith was right there for the Victorino obstruction and saw it right off as a bad call.
Anyway, it was very informative and entertaining and really added to a pretty great game already!

It all depends where the ball is hit... balls definitely seem to die in the gaps... All of the homers tonight were absolutely crushed except for that Jason Werth one down the line.
The Beltran, Reyes, Wright and Howard homers all would have been gone in any major league stadium... Citifield is definitely looking like its going to make people earn their home runs.

For all the negativity early on, for all the people knocking it for different reasons and flaws, legitimite or not, has anyone else felt or noticed like myself how the place is sort of getting a charachter all its own? The way it plays, the way the fans have been interacting.
I don't know, I haven't been in the place yet, but from TV it just sort of looks like its becoming more and more our home and a very nice ballpark that people are beginning to genuinly warm up to.
Nowadays people seem so anxious and quick to make judgement on something before allowing time to pass.
As the months and years go on, as things improve and change, this place is really going to be worth it all.

It has definitely grown on me a lot since I first went for the Saturday Red Sox exhibition. I still think there are way too many seats where you can't see the entire field and I think they really screwed up in that regard. However, I have been sitting in the field level seats lately and its great.
In the end I think its a great place to hang out. I also think they could have had more NY centric food concessions. It would be nice if you could get a nice fat corned beef or pastrami sandwhich somewhere. It would also be nice if there were some non exclusive bars where fans could hang out and have a view of the game.
The thing that impressed me the most is that the Mets didn't raise the beer prices and that compared to NYS they are very reasonable. Food also seems pretty reasonably priced or about as reasonably priced as it could be for a New York Stadium.

After two visits, and the fact that the hard-scaping of the demolition is steadily transforming into green landscaping, I think the feel of the place is starting to mellow. I have been trying to keep an open mind about a lot of things, with the exception of Ollie. It's our park. They're our team, and they're winning. Who is it that said "LETS GO MET!"

Myself and I think alot of us were supercritical of the place at first since it wasn't exactly perfect.
But even with cut off views the Prom seats are terrific, and the park is starting to feel like home. The concession prices are reasonable by ballpark standards. The park itself landscaped beautifully
The view of the small towers in Flushing with the multi colored lights on top you see from the RF Prom concourse reminded me of Dodger Stadium.

Here's a shot from tonight of the Bullpen Gate area with the old Homerun Apple. Wait a minute! There's something missing - the easel with Doc Gooden's signature on display.

Funny thing is, the Gooden easel was never really publicized - no signs, and there was nothing explaining what it was for anyone who might have happened to spot it (someone not knowing the situation might have thought it was an ad of some kind). There has been no public announcement of a change in policy. However, it's safe to assume that in the current economic climate, they are not turning away potential patrons.
I entered Wednesday night, early innings to grab a $6.25 Brooklyn Lager draft, and the place was a ghost town.

Everyone (everyone here at BBF, that is) knew that it was just temporary but relocating it (or hiding it) before a permanent location was ready doesn't make a lot of sense.

Well unlike, say, Madison Square Garden, you are allowed to bring in food and water so long as the bottle is not glass and the the food container is not glass or metal (and for your own or group's consumption, not for resale). Someone wrote of bringing in 150 White Castle cheeseburgers. I know I've brought in Chinese food from Flushing on the way in (noodle soup, dumplings, scallion pancakes), 2-liter bottles of soda and water, party size bags of Cheetos and potato chips, Thermoses of coffee, tupperware containers of chili with a bag of flour tortillas... Even sandwiches from Subway when there's a Subway at the ballpark itself too.

I was there last night and just walked into to The Promenade Club without being questioned about tickets. I asked one of the hosts about the policy. Well, the first thing one needs to know is that the club is there. The entrances are not in plain site when one is walking towards the food court behind home plate on the Promenade level. The glass doors are a bit off the beaten path. Your eyes aren't drawn to it.
I think this has more to do with it than the exclusivity thing.

In the letter that I wrote to the Mets last week (which still hasn't received a reply), I pointed out that very thing, saying that bar stools would be perfect in that setting. I also suggested that the presence of seating would probably encourage more fans to linger longer, possibly spending more money while there.

I wanna know why they dont have stools in there. if your a kid you cant see whats going on during the game, and they dont want anyone sitting on the counters.
I agree. That doesn't make any sense.
My friend and I walked in with our beers, hung out for 2 minutes and then decided to leave. The security guy told us we couldn't take our beers outside. Even though we brought them in with us. A little ridiculous.

Went to Citi today for the 1st time... Good food, nice concourses, looks better in person than on TV. Nice ballpark. I had a good time. I like the cheaper prices compared to NYS.
Things I didn't like were.... The bullpen area I thought was going to be a little closer to that concourse back there. There's some sort of loading area right between where the bullpen is and the fans are. The staircase in the upper deck issue is annoying. It looks a good deal like Citizens Bank Park while walking around the concourses, I guess not a bad thing because that's a nice park... but very similar. Oh and of course... needs more Mets.
Overall good ballpark. Felt like I was out of town.

It's possible that, as appears to be the case in 530, the "bend" appears at different seats in each row in 504 as well. But the "bend" doesn't seem to be as severe in 504 as it is in 530.
I'm not promising anything, but maybe I'll start taking notes on exactly where the "bends" are in the Promenade Reserve seating as one of my pet projects
Mission accomplished, at least as far as section 530 is concerned. First, a couple of photos to show you how dramatic the difference is. On the left is the view from section 530, row 14, seat 10... and on the right is the view from one seat to the right, seat 9 in the very same row. In both photos I'm facing straight ahead. I've posted them smaller than I normally like to post my pics ("Medium" 375 x 500 instead of my usual "Large" 768 x 1024) so you can easily do a side-by-side comparison without having to scroll.

Here's the list:
Row 1: seats 2-3
Row 2: seats 2-3
Row 3: seats 3-4
Row 4: seats 3-4
Row 5: seats 4-5
Row 6: seats 4-5
Row 7: seats 5-6
Row 8: seats 6-7
Row 9: seats 6-7

Was it after the 7th inning?
The only time that happened to me was when after the 7th and thats because per MLB rules the stadium can't serve alchohol after the 7th. However, since the Prom club is private club they can serve alchohol through the end of the game. However, you just aren't allowed to leave the club with it though.

Was at the game last night and had one of my best times there.
As shared on ticket thread, bought two tix in row 20, section 17 of Delta Club for $88/each. I'm thinking of grabbing same tix for today - again, $90 on StubHub.
Didnt get there as early as I wanted or bring my camera since I had to go straight from office but I've got some shots on my cell to clean up. Wouldve liked to get there to watch BP and stand down by the field, but oh well.
The Dclub is actually nicer than I thought it would be. I know it is one of the top clubs, but it was tastefully done and the food was actually really good - I'll still settle for a Shackburger any day, but it was worth it. Pretty sure, but saw a single digit that looked like Alex Cora in the tunnel getting some swings about 30 mins before the game. Pretty cool stuff but an otherwise useless window since 90% of the time you look down, no one is in there, according to a husband/wife I met. They have been to every home game except for one, and he has only seen someone in the Mets tunnel one other time. I think you need to get there when gates open and just sit on the chairs by the window to catch some activity in there.
Seats? Forget it - comfy as hell. No less than a perfect way to lounge and watch the game. Would love the set they have on the Shea Auction from the Citi Field Preview Center.
There seemed to be a lot of "regular" fans sitting back there last night. A lot less suits and a lot more "Joe from Forest Hills"-type fans. Everyone was into the game, as opposed to people I heard about from the Phils game, the corporate blowhards who you always see facing backwards talking on a cell.
The atmosphere was louder in the 8th inning than at any point I remember this year. Maybe David's HR on OD was louder, but the place was rocking when CB drove in Jose in the eighth.
Anyone who said Citi wouldn't be as loud as Shea, check this video.
http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=4478279
The roar really felt that loud in person - cool stuff and good to see this place is getting an identity of its own and the fans are starting to get into the place.
I see what ShB was talking about when he went to game in the DClub last week(or two weeks ago.) I highly recommend anyone take a look at Stubhub and dump the extra funds (if available) into at least once sitting in those seats - fun stuff indeed

Back from 3 weeks of no Mets/Citi updates due to overwhelming wedding busy-ness and then a relaxing honeymoon with no internet or TV. Wayyyyyy too much to catch up on here, but the last 15 pages have got me excited to get back out to Citi today.

I've also took notice of the "bends" when I saw earlier photos of Citi Field, mostly the one in the big apple section next to the HR apple. But it really boggles me how they could also have it in the promenade sections where the seats and legroom are already not very generous to begin with. Why couldn't the architects just make the area where it bends a place in between the sections? Make it the steps going up - why put seats there? That is just really poor design.

Went today with the family. What a "relaxing" win. The outcome of this one wasn't in doubt. Chatted with Saltzy for a few. He sold off one of his games but has been at all the rest to this point so he's got an "almost" iron-man streak going to this point. Had some Pirates fans in front of me in row 6. I actually felt bad for them because there team has been awful for so long, unlike the Brewer fans that sat in front of me at the first homestand.
Did anyone notice the dark smoke billowing up from behind the left field stands around midway through the game? I was wondering what it was. Turns out that it was two cars burning to a crisp in the marina lot, about 100 feet from my car. Even the cars next to the two "charmobiles" had melted bumpers and melted paint on the door panels. That must have been some fire. Some idiots likely dumped their hot coals in the lot and left them there. Not the first time we've seen this. Hopefully it won't make them clamp down on pre-game grilling.

Now this time versus my 1st visit at citi where I just wandered around, I actually was in my seat (in prom 402) for most of the game. It was very enjoyable and I'm sensing the crowd starting to warm up to the place a bit more.

Have you tried waiting on that line? The most you'll be there is a half hour on a bad day. It takes about 15-25 minutes to get to the front of the line and get your food. Definitely not even close to an hour.

So, I went to Yankee Stadium on Weds night, and was back at Citi on Friday. Here is my comparison:
At first, YS felt bigger, more spacious in the concourse areas. Then I realized that it wasn't bigger, but there were less people in the area (there really were, I'm not just saying that). Literally no lines for concessions or bathrooms.
There seemed to be a lot of similarities (abundance of concessions, bathrooms, ability to see the game from most areas, etc). I can definitely see the differences in person (old YS and new YS), where on TV, it looks like the same field.
The scoreboard, IMO, is nicer at YS. That video screen is unbelievable. I like thier OOT board, because it is clearer, and can follow the games better (Mets were playing Philly that night). However, i don't like that you have to wait for it to come back around only shows 4 at a time).
Ladies rooms at Citi are nicer :). You have to actually flush the toilet at YS, and something else was not motion censored.
And finally (FWIW), the whole place screamed Yankees! Even the tissue paper the pretsel came in had the Yankee emblem! The museum was actually nice too. not very big, but it served the purpose. Also, the pictures throughout the stadium were a constant reminder if who played there... unlike at Citi :(
Then when I went back to citi on Friday, I went with my friend who hadn't been yet. He was in AWE. We spent about 5 innings just walking around, watching the game from different areas. We were by the right field foulpole eating sushi when Beltran and Church played the "I thought you had the ball" game . it was a great view. The fact that we won made the experience even better.
It's finally starting to feel like home :happy:

Last week, I waited 40 minutes. The novelty will have to wear off soon enough.

Really? I haven't waited more than a half hour.

Here is a short piece I found in the Record on-line this morning. Several small changes which I think would have an impact.

For every good point made, the writer makes at least one dumb one ("hire" a sign guy, fugly blue and orange seats, rename Roosevelt Ave)

My third game yesterday, I like the ballpark more each time I go. There was someone in the 17th row in the Promenade who brought an S shaped orange hook with him to the game, put it on the fence behind him and hung up his bags there. More legroom for him I guess, but he really is making himself at home in the new place, I never saw anyone bring his own hook for hanging items to a game before. In a Met color no less.
Also someone thought it was a good idea to store their baby carriage in the plexiglass staircase area. Not hard enough seeing the field thru plexiglass, really needed to add a carriage there as well. Security quickly came and had them move it.
Some Met fans are really making themselves comfortable in the new place!

Yeah, it's not ridiculously long. And it's very worth the wait.

How come we have two ad boards behind home plate while camden yards only has one? You can barely see the brick wall.

Camden does have two. They are separated by a brick "gate" of sorts, so sometimes from the CF camera you only see one.

Quick question:
Obviously you guys have the escalators in Jackie Robinson Rotunda, and probably elsewhere throughout Citi. Do the escalators go down after the game is over? It drives me nuts at USCF that they don't reverse the escalators after the game so you have to walk down the ramps.
Thanks in advance!

they certainly had the ability to, but no they closed them off and made you walk down the staircases and ramps (at least yesterday they did)

Just got back from the game. It was so windy today that my Sunday Plan seats (promenade row 17) were unbearable--I sat there for about two innings, and that was it. The wind blowing in through the chain link fence is ridiculous. Even a row or two in front is much better. I went to talk to customer service to see if they could move me--nothing is open now, but maybe something will open up later in the year.
Speaking of customer service--Dishy, was your son wandering around again? A boy popped out of the elevator while I was in the customer service area. Did he try to get into the Delta Club and end up in the wrong elevator? The security guard looked concerned, but the kid just wanted to get back into the elevator.
Also--I bet the Xerox ad will be moved either tomorrow or when the Mets are on the road. There are orange markers on the CF wall to the left of the Geico sign that look similar to the markers that were on the wall before ads were installed.

So excited for tomorrow... my first game with my Dad and Santana is pitching!
I have no idea where my seats are, but if they are bad we'll just walk around the ballpark.

I saw Dishy today rolling through the prom concourse. Didn't have the chance to stop and say hello, so I still remain incognito.

Was in the Big Apple Reserved seats today for the Mets Fan Club for Kids Day. Awesome view from there and the kids had a blast. They got to go on the warning track before the national anthem, took pictures with Mr. Met and got to say hello to a few players. Kinda bummed Delgado just missed parking a ball into our section lol.
Oh and the $5 kids meal is a good deal even though they give you the kids dogs and not the jumbo ones.

I like this
Having a neon Mets logo over that space above the OTSB
just seemed to balance things out a bit better for me
but I'll take it there, on the bridge or over the scoreboard
I love the look of the park (especially that outfield wall, which totally rocks)
but adding that signature would make it even cooler.
The overall interior CF color scheme makes me feel like the team that plays there
and the fans that root for them are a bunch of badasses and I love it.
Kind of like we're the biker gang of baseball.
Note to management on a new promotional giveaway idea:
leather studded dog collar with a Mets logo.

And while they're at it, they can do "Meet The %^¡*%#@#* Mets!"

They can't run the escalators in reverse because there is no way for management to ensure an empty landing at the bottom of the escalator.
I don't know if you've seen a stampede of people brought on by an escalator... it keeps bringing people to a level, and unless those people have a place to go - squish... but I will tell you it's not pleasant.
Cheers!

Isn't the problem the same when they run in the original direction?

I have 5 seats for Wednesday 5/13 (1:10 game) vs. Braves in Prom Club 416. My little guy has a Little League game at 5:00 (and we missed last Wednesday's game for a Mets game already)... I was thinking about going and leaving early, but getting back to CT (with traffic) we will have to leave really early. I'm not sure of the policy of reselling DAP and companion seats on Stubhub. The lowest Prom Club on there now is $35 and WAY up... anybody know the policy, or better yet, want the tickets (at Face)? PM me if you are interested.
Thanks!
(Face is $20 each)

I am going to divide the review on today's game into two parts: the excellent
part which is everything except getting to the seats, and the bad- getting to the seats.
This first post will be the BAD. And I mean bad. On the ticket it says Gate JRR. That is a problem. The level says field...it's not. The Row says A, and nobody at Citi knows what Row A means or where it is.
Before the game I locate the section on the Citi map. Sec 125 Row a is actually field box gold. It is a DAP section, so no stairs to enter, right? I go to the LF VIP gate and they won't let me in as the tickets say Gate JRR. Well, debating is not working, so I trudge over to the JRR, up the escalator to field. I ask a worker where I should go and they point over to Section 125. At the top of 125, I show the tickets to an usher who points me down towards the field. I say that these are DAP seats and that my mom should not be going down 30 rows of stairs. "Sorry, that 's where the row A is. " Puzzled , I walk down the rows, halfway down another usher agrees that we have to keep on going down to the front. Except, we get to the end of the stairs and that is Row 1, not Row A. Row A is gated off, and only accesible from a tunnel. The ushers now say we have to go back up 30 rows and take the elevator down a level. Getting annoyed, we do it slowly. But the elevator operator has no idea what we are talking about, but lets us out on the first floor anyway. The CSR on the first floor has no idea where this section is and calls security. The security guy says he knows how to get there, hurray, and leads us through a "no admittance door" into the bowels of the ball park. We walk through a narrow corridor, and down a tunnel onto the field. An usher is sitting in the DAP box and said that he is sorry for the runaround, but very few Mets employees actually know DAP box 125 exists and even fewer know how to get there. Every Mets employee along the way told me to call and/or write the Mets to complain and maybe they will do something. In fact, the only sign I saw for DAP section 125 was inside the 'operations' bowels and was not visible to the general public. What the heck is the sense of paying for DAP box seats if one has to walk all over, including up and down at least 60 rows of seats in total ! Unreal. This is the bad part of the day, but life is about to get a whole lot better!!
