Hello BBF members,

Finally! The construction is over, and New Yankee Stadium, whether you were for it or against it,is a reality.

It may seem a little premature, but April 3rd is right around the corner, and the 16th will be here in no time so I'd thought I'd start this thread so that those of you fortunate enough to attend NYS can please post your thoughts and opinions on finally being able to attend an actual game at the Yankees new home.Pertinent questions can now be answered like: How bad really are those obstructed seats in the bleachers? How far away is the upper deck from the field compared to the old? What's the new M.P. like? Does the new frieze stand out more in person than it does in the photos, and really; how great is the Great Hall?LOL:laugh.(really lame joke):laugh

Most importantly,is the new place a worthy successor to the original,or are the naysayers and critics correct in asserting that it is not? Overall, your opinions, pictures and any information related to catching a game at the New Yankee Stadium will be much appreciated by those of us currently unable to attend and find out for ourselves.

Thanks.

Yeah, I know construction is still not quite over, but for all intents and purposes, the Stadium is here, and this is pretty much what it will look like on opening day...

Being that it will be some time before I experience a game there for myself,I hope to get a lot of input from all the excellent members who post here on BBF...

I also thought it might be cool to make a Yankee Stadium modifications thread, I guess this thread would serve that purpose for 2009?

I just thought it would be a cool idea.

Everyone has been fantastic with the construction thread,so much so that I feel like I'm already familiar with the new stadium! If this thread gets a fraction of the attention the construction thread receives ,I'm sure I'll feel much closer to the action than I actually am when the stadium opens...

My first game is Apr. 21, but i'm sure by then there will be 11,453,225 pictures of Yankee Stadium. I'll be sure to get some decent pics though.

This new thread is a good idea. I'm sure that some will say " Oh no, not another YS thread!" but it is needed. This will be different from the construction thread and will feature photos from actual game days and tours. Looks like I'm shut out of my ticket plan--Sundays, Tier Reserved, 2007 seniority--but luckily I'm going on Apr 3 and Apr 16 thanks to Steve Hitman23. He snagged 2 tix for the Opener and sold them at face rather than going the StubHub route. I'll have to buy him a beer or two. Anyway, we've agreed that the Apr 3 game will be pretty much a photo day, since we're not that interested in the game. I'm going to try to take some from the same vantage points that I used last year in RYS and post them here side by side.

Good luck. I called my community board (#6) last week and was able to get 2 tickets for my roommate and I. It's going to be a glorious day.

I'll call it that until 40 years from now, when they tear down NYS and start building another one.

A lot of Sox fans still call the Cell "New Comiskey" and it's been 20 years.

RYS was called "The New Yankee Stadium" for quite some time after the renovation.

Yes, it was referred to as such on the main scoreboard (as in Welcome to New Yankee Stadium) for at least five years after the renovation.

I have no plan, full or partial, they were free from your local community board.

Right, but I wasn't commenting on the distribution. I was commenting that Yankee workout tickets are assigned seats, whereas Mets workout ticket holders will be able to sit anywhere they want.

Im an outsider looking in so take my opinion how you want. But I think it's a great stadium in general! They took the old look people missed and gave it modern views from the seats. They upgraded the areas that people said were too cramp and copied other great ideas like the rays batter's eye rest. They did a great job overall and you can see they spared no expense.

Although you can't replace history or make people forget what they had. You can def. make them appriciate what they have and nys does that to me.

A piece of US Celluar/SKYDome garbage so Convicted Felon x2 could have a restaurant with seats a mile away and a phony freeze with the monuments buried that we paid for because he had to sign baseball players with money he would not spend himself.

Because of that MTA had to increase prices, cops are laid off, city services are cut while he get's the profits and prime corporate seating and stops paying NYC rent while he hold the Bronx hostage so he can pay a 300lb free agent's grocery bills.

Jail the Convicted Felon x2, with Levine and the criminal sons demolish his steakhouse ballpark and then have MLB force him to sell.

first of all, the MTA is billions in the red regardless of how tax dollars are getting spent. second, cops aren't getting laid off. i know you're just trying to make a point in a trollish manner, but the things you're saying are just very untrue. :silent:

So why are the Yankees after spending 500m on three free agents in NYC courts asking for hundreds of millions in bailouts.

1.8 billion for convicted felon's stadium so he can pay players, meanwhile firehouses close and we have a deficit to where tolls must go on bridges while a perfectly good stadium is demolished for a better plastic seats 81 times a year for three hours?

Spare me.

Glad it will be on MLB Network. I'm actually gonna be in Boston that week and i'll be at Fenway on the 17th. Now, I can watch the first game in the new Stadium on tv, go to Fenway the next day, and be back in NY for the 4/21 game at the Stadium.

Can't wait till April!!

I will go to New Yankee Stadium (baseball) in 2009 and look at the erections of the plaques that have been placed on the wall in the Monument Hall Park room of Yankee New (sport) Stadium Arena for Baseball.

This I will do.

I really don't like the look of the decks angling in towards the plate, plus it takes away a few hundred potential seats. And that "short" section of the frieze at the end just doesn't look right.

I'm sure they could do something, but they won't unless it benefits them monetarily.

ive come to the conclusion that a lot of the reasoning behind the angled deck ends is to maintain an optical illusion that makes the frieze look like it's overhanging a lot more than it actually is. :lightbulb:

Can you do one where the split upper deck is filled in and the open slats behind the frieze are solid so the background behind the frieze looks darker?

I also like the extended decks!!

However, if they were to extend the decks, there would be another huge obstruction in the bleachers. To remedy that they would have to extend the lower deck as follows:
