View Full Version : What seats do you think are the best for someone visiting your home ballpark?

When you head out to your local ballpark what section do you normally try to pick up a ticket for and why? Would you suggest the section for someone visiting your stadium for the first and perhaps only time?

My home park is GABP (please save the insults) and I think the best seats in the house are in section 519-520. Located next to the split in the upper deck. You have a great view of the field, can still see the greatest scoreboard in MLB in left field, plus your wandering eye can watch barges, jet skis, and other boat traffic on the Ohio River go by. Sitting up there is one of the most relaxing places I can imagine.

I can't swear this view is from 519-520 but it is very close and at least gives you an idea.

So what say you about your home park?

Dodger Stadium:

Field or Loge MVP, first 10 rows, between the bases. Pricey, but if you're only going once you might as well do it right. However, if you have money to burn--do the Dugout Club seats--inclusive gourmet buffet with wait service and large padded seats---best seats in the house.

Best seats for under $35 - Inner Reserved Level, rows 1-5 between the bases. Great view of the game

I'm sure you are all headed to Louisville Slugger Field. So be sure to get seats in the Upper Deck Reserved section. They are in short supply and are the most expensive seats ($10, just slightly less than NYS Legends seats), but they give a really nice view of the field, and the surrounding neighborhood.

At Shea Stadium, my favorite seats in the upper deck were in Row D, seats 8 and 9, because they were the two directly above the portals to the concourse. I had the bars to lean on, and because I was in the fourth row there wasn't anyone directly in front of me. The only disadvantage was that these seats were in the middle of the row.

I preferred the non-alcohol sections - sections 8 to 12 or 14 or even 16, I don't remember - because those directly faced the big scoreboard in right field. I also learned that the ticket sellers didn't exactly offer those seats, you had to specifically ask for them. By "offer" I mean something like, "the best I can do for you is section 32, all the way out in left field, unless you're willing to sit in a non-alcohol seat, then I can give you section 10" - it was just "the best I can do for you is section 32," period, and it was incumbent on the customer to ask for alcohol-free seats. Guess they wanted to make sure the dry sections only went to people who really wanted them, but in any case it worked well for me.

At the New Yankee Stadium, anywhere on the main level is great!!! I tour the new stadium a few weeks ago and it is absolutely amazing!!! Tickets on the main level range from $45-$100. The main level suites-Delta Sky Suites are more, the seats are padded, but I'm not sure of the price. They are all sold out though, but usually if you come early enough to the stadium on the day of the game, you might be able to buy a few. Sometimes season ticket holders cal in if they can't make it to a game.

Those seats are choice. For those that don't want to spend a lot for tickets at Dodger Stadium, rows A-H at the Top Deck are a nice value behind home plate for $11.

Rogers Centre:

My best bet would be anywhere on the 200 level along the baselines. 100 Level is alright, but seating isn't terribly steep. 200 Level is great based on my experience.

500 level, avoid if you can. So high up.

Yep. I'd do the same thing.

Anyway, at Citi Field, I have a feeling that the Pepsi Porch will be "the place to be." Other than that, promenade reserve IF is a nice bargain, especially for a visitor, because it would be pointless to come from wherever you're coming from and get stuck out in the OF because you refuse to pay the extra $6-$8 for the IF seats.

At the old Yankee Stadium, the Loge Boxes down the lines had a good view, as well as the Tier Reserved/Box MVP behind home plate. Field level isn't bad either...lol

Fenway Park:
Grandstand section 32 and 33, no doubt. Cheaper than the rest, right next to the monster, under cover, relatively few obstructions. Best overall decision.

If you go to Chase Field, anything on the 3rd base side is ideal.

View Box (Section 329, Row 7).

These seats are directly behind home plate in the Upper Deck and offer a great view of the field.

At the Oakland Mausoleum...err coliseum the plaza level sections 215 thru 219 are the best bet.... easy access and good view behind home plate

At the Dolph, pick your seat, and if you don't like it, move somewhere else. I like the third base side better, especially in the left field corner since it faces back toward the infield

Comerica Park. Anywhere between 1st and 3rd in the Lower Deck. I like to be as close to the action as possible.

Anywhere else there, and you might as well be at a amusement park..........which conveniently, Comerica doubles as.

At US Cellular, buy the cheapest seat possible and head to the bullpen bar under the right field stands. Purchase a table on the upper level of the outdoor bar for $15 per person and you have a great vantage point from just above the wall. Plus you have a waitress, a great food selection, and the bathrooms in the bar are right there and not usually crowded. Its great for groups of 4 to have a whole picnic table to yourself.

@ Petco Park, I like Upper Box sections in the infield (sections 300-315). Great view of the action and a great view of the downtown skyline and surrounding streets behind the outfield. These seats go for $28-$33 each.

Two different questions. I normally buy the cheapest seat possible and stand on the home run porch. Now if someone was visiting, some of the best are close rows around lower box section 134. Never higher than $44, as low as $18. If you want to save a little more, Lower Reserve as close to section 125 as possible, topping out at $30 and as low as $24. If you want to save even more, try the bleachers, the lower rows and as close to section 180 as possible, $16 to $20.

At the Dolph, pick your seat, and if you don't like it, move somewhere else. Looks like you could get away with that

I agree with Cool Papa B and like to add that for a great value, you can get grandstand seats in the infield for $25 and toward the outfield for $20. All can be had at or near cost at StubHub during a week day/night game.

Also, the bleachers will give you access to the sports bar and rest of the stadium for $12, and for a measly $5, a bleacher seat with an obstruction on the opposite end of the OF, BUT you can hang at the bar on the concourse and get a full view.

But, if you want a one time great experience, I'd go with Papa B's advice.

(BTW, I'm talking about Yankee Stadium)

Why is that?

With Centerfield pointed due north, seating on the 1st base will be in the sun during afternoon games.

A lot of places didn't regard the Official Baseball Rules, section 1.04 highly

Don't let the beach balls fool you. The LF Pavilion crowd at Dodger Stadium eat rusty nails for breakfast with a chaser of broken glass. If you make the unfortunate mistake of wearing the "wrong" jersey in there it can get ugly. Pretty rowdy place in there. Fun if you know what to expect, but I wouldn't bring your kids unless you want them to hear words and expressions they might never heard before. :crazy :laugh

exactly i dont want to turn this into a NY LA thing but its the truth many have been stabbed and a Giants fan was shot and killed in the parking lot as recently as 06 something we are not exactly proud of and dont let the no alcohol fool you these gangsters get absolutely hammered before games. With the melting pot LA is you have bloods/crips/mexican mafia/skinheads/F13/ all united for the Dodgers.

Funny, but I feel very safe and secure in the Pavilion, even though I know I'm surrounded by hundreds of hardcore gang members. Dodger gear unites.

The first visit to PNC Park has to be Infield Grandstand (top level), at or near dead center, which affords you the best view in all of major league baseball (Section 316 top, 314 bottom):

http://inlinethumb44.webshots.com/4331/1397326000039674882S600x600Q85.jpghttp://inlinethumb56.webshots.com/33527/1397397264039674882S600x600Q85.jpg

The full river view is lost on the lower tiers. Also, move too far towards right field and you start losing the best part of the skyline, and too far towards left and you lose the bridges (which are very active with pedestrians on game days), so near center is best. Also Primanti Bros. (Pittsburgh, not Philly, cheese steaks) is up there, so that and an Iron City and you're good to go.
