Nomar Garciaparra signs with the Oakland Athletics,
The Manny Ramirez Saga is over. Not. It's annoyingly still going on.

The Los Angeles Dodgers became the National League’s best team the moment Manny Ramirez agreed to his new contract. Someone should tell Frank McCourt that is the real definition of winning a negotiation.
In the end, the Dodgers win, no matter how Manny’s $45 million is paid to him. As long as Manny stays interested, no other N.L. team is as good or as deep as Los Angeles. There is depth in the rotation, and there are power arms in the bullpen. There is a blend of youth and experience in the lineup.

I fully agree with this.
My CGP says:
Los Angeles Dodgers 90 72
Arizona Diamondbacks 84 78
San Francisco Giants 83 79
Colorado Rockies 72 90
San Diego Padres 67 95

I hope they can find some strength on the mound because the Dodgers pitching staff is well below last year and it was the guys on the mound who kept the team in striking distance before Manny put the icing on the cake in the second half of the year. I am worried that, as many runs as can be scored, the team needs to stop that many and more being scored against them.

People seem to forget that Ramirez will be 37 this year. I know he did amazingly well for LA last year, but was that an illusion? He appeared to be in decline for Boston the last couple years, and going to LA is defintely not going to do much for his numbers. Im not saying he is washed up, but for a guy his age to keep hitting as he did , and being as healthy as he was, during his prime years is almost unprecedented. I am glad the Mets didnt sign him...an aging slugger with a bad attitude is not what they need. They are still better than the Dodgers.

Their hitting will be fine, its their starting pitching where they are questionable. They will give up a lot of runs.

I always saw it as a forgone conclusion that Manny would be back in LA. There wasnt really a market outside of there for him. It was just a bunch of crap and politicing and Boras wanted to look like he got a good deal when he basically just danced around the offer for 4 months.
