I have a grandson who is a dead pull hiitter, lefty,, but he has a slight drop "hitch", not A-C exactly,
what steps can i do to clear that? Walk up to the t and hit, done that, soft toss done that, showed him video. It's not much , but i need him to go straight to the ball.

Probably need to see a clip.

Does he "hitch" like Bonds?

Buckyland,

In my opinion,

Like many baseball terms and cues, “Hitch” means different things to different people.

If his hands and arms drop down during his stride and raise back up to start his swing he’s likely not as strong as Barry Bonds and will struggle with change ups and great fastballs later.

If the hitch during his stride is a form of tip and rip due to “cupped” wrists and griping the bat where the hands and fingers join, that is a very good thing that will add late power to his swing

Can you describe his “hitch” in more detail?

I don't think that Bonds has a hitch. He drops his hands while he tips the barrel, but later he lifts them up again(when he loads the shoulder or "pokes" the elbow).

One man's hitch is another man's loading pattern.

This probably only needs to be corrected if the timing is bad, or it causes him to use bad wrist angles or something. Without seeing a clip there is not telling.

Ortiz has the little hand pump hitch too.

I agree Bonds doesn't hitch. That is why it was in quotations.

Soooooooo True!

If the "hitch" is productive why kill it? There is a reason the rhythm is there.

The sequence should be "A-C" hands to ball, Not A B C , B being a drop of the hands then to C the ball " instructors terminoligy i guess":, his is not that bad and you all have pieces of it. I did take a clip yesterday, but the pitching was not good at the time and my battery died ,yuk,
I have a photo bucket account but don't know if this will loasd there it is a .mov file-Quicktime. Then i am lost most of the time that i have used photo bucket so i don't post my whole pc on there.

anyway
thanks

HYP was just fishing for a "gotcha" ;)

I never considered the BB issue :clapping, rather use George Brett or Chipper Jones :laugh, comparisons not fair, it's what the individual issues are?

Thanks for the fun.

Not so much a "gotcha" but more a "take a look". some say Bonds' hand drop is a hitch. I don't.

IMO as long as the hands get to the proper launch position at the proper time, who cares how they got there. As long as it doesn't affect the rest of your swing.

some merit in what your statement is, , i'd rather see them in a consistent place , then "who cares how" IMHO.

Every hitter will develop a consistent place to start from, what ever is comfortable for the individual. Who cares how they start as long as they get to the launch position on time.
