There are many candidates for this class:
Baltimore, Seattle, Nat's, Pirates ....

Please state your opinion and vote for two candidates! ;)

My choice is the Pirates ans the Orioles.
Pittsburgh - one of the worstest rotation, a weak bullpen
Orioles - except Guthrie their rotation is very bad, bullpen as well

You left the Reds off there.

Obviously I'm a Mariners fan, but with a weakened A.L. West, it's not out of the question that Seattle could win between 78-82 games. Offensively they'll struggle, but their pitching staff could surprise, especially if they use the defensively superb OF of Chavez, Guitierriez and Ichiro.

The Reds will be at .500...I think

Royals have a pretty good crack at .500 as well if their youngsters develop. At any rate, they've improved steadily each of the last 3 years and probably don't belong on this list anymore except out of pure inertia.

Yeah, the Reds arent one of the worst 5 teams. No way. They are better then half the division they play in. I accidentally voted for 5 based on the title of the poll, sorry. Seattle, Wash, Pitt, Texas, and SD with Florida being my 6th worst.

Finally, the Giants is going to be some kind of pleasant surprise this year, IMO...

Whoops I didn't read the directions, I automatically voted for five, sorry. (I was going by the thread title.)

The Jays won 92 games in the toughest divison in baseball. I guess finishing 4th in their division, despite their record, automatically qualifies them for being the worst team the following year.

It will be interesting to re-visit this thread in October. ;)

Five teams had fewer than 70 third order wins last year:

Nationals 63-98
Mariners 65-97
Reds 68-94
Padres 68-94
Pirates 62-100

As far as teams where a regression to the mean is likely, these five teams most outperformed their third order wins (and more often than not, teams like that fall backwards the next season, even with roster improvement):

Angels: 84-78 (+16)
Astros: 76-85 (+10)
Reds: 68-94 (+6)
Phillies: 87-75 (+5)
Pirates: 62-100 (+5)
Twins: 83-80 (+5)
