To be honest, I have skipped Hot Stove a few times or any other sports show because I really am at the point that I cant take another word about roids...even getting sick of typing about it on here. I read about Selig/Aaron on here and that was it for me.
We have a feeling about it one way or another. Some feel its punishable by death, and some (like me) dont find it better or worse than a lot of other drugs or rules that get broken.
I am hoping that by the time bat hits ball that a lot of this steroid talk is gone.
As do most of you I love baseball. Greatest game ever, but I just cant wait for it come back to balls, strikes, outs, homers.

That's the wish of every wrong doer. Hope you get tired of hearing about the evil I do so you won't stop me from still doing it.

Well, all I can say is you better get used to it. We've got a looooong way to go before we finish muddling through the steroid issue in Major League Baseball. It is going to be the constant background noise for years to come.

Why do you keep creating threads that pertain to steroids then? For someone who has been claiming to be sick of it, you sure do converse about it alot.
very much sick of it.. i think the hooplah that ensues afterwards is worse than the actual accusations, positive tests, confirms or denials etc....

not at all; the more talk the better.
that way, maybe the talk'll get around to questioning and addressing our behavior as a society, which is pivotal to greatly minimizing substance abuse in general.

I care enough to look at all these threads and comment in some. However, I wish it would be toned down a teensy weensy bit, to get away from the point where we're hearing about a new "steroid" story every month at least.

I hope that someone does something this year in baseball that is magical and takes attention away from steroids. It is too bad that this subject is clouding the game.
But, as well all know, negativity sells...

Hopefully that "magical" thing doesn't involve home runs or high-90s fastballs.

The moment that something magical happens? That player will have tossed his name into the suspected steroid users ring. :)

I'm sick of it too... but I recognize that it won't end until there is a perception among casual fans (not just us here) and the general media that there has been a reckoning.
Bumbling and heavy-handed though he may be, I think this is what is driving Selig's most recent comments.
I would be surprised if it was not the dominant story of 2009.

As I said...I am sick of conversing about it myself, but unfortunately its been pretty consuming, and really damaging. You cant watch any baseball related show without hearing about it on some level.
I do appreciate you tracking my threads though. Thanks.

No doubt it will be. Especially when you consider for the first time a player has been outed while in the prime years of his career. Bonds was nearing the end as was Mac, Sosa etc when they were outed. Arod is 32 and has 9 years left on his contract. So unfortunately we are no where near hearing the end of it.

I'm so sick of steroids that I don't even want to see a thread asking about how sick of steroids people are.

Steroids have been around for several generations, since at least the 1960s, yet it's just now that we're getting excessive coverage of it in baseball.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is to me the most well-known admitted steroids user, but everyone talks about Alex Rodriguez.
I just want to go back to baseball, the AL East, can Tampa Bay repeat their last season, has Boston hurt themselves with a very inactive offseason, and whether or not the Yanks do have a full and strong rotation, lineup and team.
Lots of things to focus upon, and steroids and the people who can't stop discussing them, aren't really my interest. I'd prefer discussing the main topic, not the side issue.

Yes, I've been fed up with it for quite some time. I gave up fantasy baseball 5-6 years ago all because I couldn't stand the idea of rooting for cheaters.
But I never lost the love for baseball. The change has been healthier between the ears, because I have perspective without losing any love for baseball.
Last weekend, in the St. Louis Sunday paper, columnist Kevin Horrigan had an article which provided a connection between Curt Flood and resulting free agency, with today's outsized CEO compensation. He suggested that if a starting ballplayer felt he was deserving of a 7-figure salary, then titans of industry felt they were deserving of 8-figure salaries. Regardless of whether you believe in the connection, it was fascinating reading. The article never mentioned ARod, and was probably written and submitted before the ARod story broke.
The topic may be sickening and disheartening, but I feel it is healthy to have perspective in the longrun.
