our young guns like John Hart did with Martenez,Hershiser & Pena
amoung others in the mid 90's. Go ahead and laugh but there are
quite a few bargains on todays market!

No offers on the table for Jr. How about 1 mil + incentives
<Ivan Rodriguez>
$12 mil for slugging under .400
Pudge is not getting 12 mil again, let me guess
you want to resign Sal Fasano
<Sean Casey>
Is his contract up?
yep
<Omar Visquel>
$5 mil for slugging .267
do not want him for his bat!
<Nomar Garciaparra>
$9.5 mil for 163 AB of a 1B
1 mil with incentives for staying healthy
<Adam Dunn>
Dunn is old?
no he is 34, but his bat would be worth the bucks
<Jim Edmonds>
Do we get the Cub Edmonds or the Padre Edmonds?
how about the tribe Edmunds
<Frank Thomas>
$12.5 mil for .374 slugging and he can't play the field
not a good idea just always liked him
<Pedro Martinez>
$12 mil for a guy who can't pitch in cavern Shea?
maybe the NY circus did him in.
<Randy Wolf>
Must be free agent time, had his first good PARTIAL year since at least 2004
when healthy a great compliment to Lee
<Mark Mulder>
His BEST era in the last three years is 7.14 :laugh

No offers that you know of. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try
<Ivan Rodriguez>
$12 mil for slugging under .400
Pudge is not getting 12 mil again, let me guess
you want to resign Sal Fasano
Let me guess, you think Pudge is gonna play like 1990s Pudge?
<Sean Casey>
Is his contract up?
yep
A possibility
<Omar Visquel>
$5 mil for slugging .267
do not want him for his bat!
I guess he could be our designated out
<Nomar Garciaparra>
$9.5 mil for 163 AB of a 1B
1 mil with incentives for staying healthy
Lotsa luck
<Adam Dunn>
Dunn is old?
no he is 34, but his bat would be worth the bucks
<Jim Edmonds>
Do we get the Cub Edmonds or the Padre Edmonds?
how about the tribe Edmunds
How about if the Tribe Edmonds plays like the Padre Edmonds?
<Frank Thomas>
$12.5 mil for .374 slugging and he can't play the field
not a good idea just always liked him
This is the third 1B/DH type you've mentioned
<Pedro Martinez>
$12 mil for a guy who can't pitch in cavern Shea?
maybe the NY circus did him in.
If it didn't that's an expensive mistake. The Boston circus didn't do him in
<Randy Wolf>
Must be free agent time, had his first good PARTIAL year since at least 2004
when healthy a great compliment to Lee
Lotsa luck
<Mark Mulder>

Ben Sheets would be a great pick up:applaud:
I know I put three 1B/DH players but we only need to sign one.

Most of these are foolish potential additions:
team is pretty well set at catcher/1b/dh so of course it makes sense to look at:
Pudge Rodriguez
Sean Casey
Frank Thomas
team has a cf who hits left and plays with reckless abandon, so of course Jim Edmonds makes good sense.
Ken Griffey, Jr is a fading star.
The Rangers did sign Omar, but that was to a minor league contract (based on his last few seasons with SF that was the best he could do) with the idea that he is going to tutor their young SS candidate.
Dunn is of moderate interest as is most of the pitchers mentioned (as well as Sheet) but thats going to take the team dumping salary and they may not be able to dump enough to make it work.
It's been written that Shapiro has one more trick up his sleeve - i can't wait to see what it is, but i have a feeling this is the team that goes into ST.
That might not be a bad thing either.
