I thought I'd already done a thread for Mr. White, but I did a search and couldn't find one. So, here we go.

Will White played only ten seasons in the big leagues, but he managed to post a record of 229-166, and post an ERA of 2.28. Despite his short career, he still managed to accumulate a black ink of 30 and a grey ink of 158. He led the league in Ks twice, ERA once (with his 2.28 ERA being 14th best all-time), wins twice, W% twice, games once, IP once, games started once, complete games twice and shutouts three times. His 1.111 WHIP is 26th best all time, and his 1.26 BB/9IP is 17 best all time.

Four of the players that are most similar to White are in the Hall of Fame - those four players are Joe McGinnity, Stan Coveleski, Clark Griffith and Jack Chesbro. The other players he is similar to are Tommy Bond, Eddie Cicotte, Charlie Buffinton, Babe Adams, Wilbur Cooper, and Doc White.

Some say that White was the first player to perfect the curveball.

White received votes for the Hall of Fame in three different elections.

White holds some records, such as most complete games in a season, most GS in a season (tied with P. Galvin) and most IP in a season.

What do you think about Will White? Should he be in the Hall of Fame?

This is an interesting case.

He holds several records, and has some durability, but I would say no because of league quality issues, and that he didn't have great longevity.

Considering Mullane, Caruthers, and King have stronger cases I voted "No".
