Jim Creigthon was the games first superstar, and was extremely well respected during his brief but eventfull career. Should he go in as pioneer?

Since you asked as a pioneer, I can say yes, mostly because he popularized pitching as something more than a slow pitch softball toss. As a player, he's nowhere close due to the brevity of his career.

Yes, as a pioneer, he definitely belongs.

I realize the term "pioneer" holds a great deal of reverence. Creighton indeed is a significant footnote in the game's history but he was dead by age 21. No way that is a HOF career. No disrespect - I love early baseball, but let's be serious. The game's development involves many men such as Creighton.
