In you all's opinion, who is the best hitting instructor, fielding instructor, who has the best throwing program, etc.

I have bought so many titles over the years, but I focus on Steve E. and Chris Yeager for hitting theory, instruction, etc. and Ron Woolforth/Paul Nyman for throwing/pitching.

From the first day I came to Baseball Fever, I have read and also have been recommended to:

Chris Yeager

Paul Nyman

Jack Mankin

Mike Epstein

Steve Englishbey

and recently Jamarillo

I have also read many people here have read the "Ted Williams" Science of Hitting book.

Who is the best? After reading many posters here, I would have to say all of them! It seems many have studied and bought all the dvds, books, went to seminars, met the gurus personally and pretty much did alot of stuff that posters like me, would just drool over.
The one common factor of all of these posters is that they all studied Epstein. Some ended up in different camps (Englishbey Hitting-which a few are sr. members, moderators, etc., ...... Dr. Chris Yeager, etc. etc.) and some made their own.

I've actually read nothing from Epstein. Some of his drills sound interesting, but posters here have turned me off to the idea that Epstein teaches the MLB pattern. I believe Dr. Yeager does. Others disagree. No big deal!

I try to never label someone the best. I have seen videos of many "guru's" and also have see and heard many coaches and "experts" at clinics, etc. I am also not afraid to pick up the phone and call coaches/guru's I have met throughout the years and talk about ways to do things. Some things I might agree with, some things I might not, but it is all good information.

The only thing I try to do is work to make myself the best I can be as a coach/instructor.

In order to do that I try to be a sponge and gather as much information as I can and then try to mesh things together in a form that I can understand as well as the players I am working with.

But, to answer the question of the thread, I have met many great instructors/coaches over the years and one thing I can tell you is that there are many great ones that people never hear much or anything about. To label someone as the "best" would not be accurate IMO.

It is your opinion, there is no way to say one is better than the other. I am simple trying to learn as much as i can. I was fortunate enough to have a father that kept me up to date on all of the new ideas and ways to play the game through my entire grill. I learned alot, from my coaches all the way through my career to the constant new material that my dad bought. I believe in what i call the "store" method. I tell the parents that i work with that " there are a million different ways to get to the store down the road, i am simple looking for the best, most efficient way". Because of this i am constantly looking for new teachers and what the "experts" think. This thread was just to get some names i don't know.

I mean there is not way to prove one is better than the other. Unless the instructor has a huge hole in his teaching, it is a matter of opinion

I can't say I agree with everything Epstein says , but I do still use his 'Torque Drill', slightly modified , as art of a station , and I do think it helps kids early in the learning process ...

Haven't yet read Yeager but I certainly agree with the rest.
