I have an opportunity to meet Yankees prospect Dellin Betances tomorrow. Is it worth trying to get his signature on an official MLB baseball? Let me know what you all think, being OMLB's (w/ cases) cost me about 14 bucks each.

Sure. Why not? :)

I agree with AutographCollector... why not? But there are some other points to ponder...

In what context are you meeting him?

Are you asking if you should have him sign a ball as opposed to something else (a photo, a ballcard, a 3x5 card, &c.)?

Is this a situation where you can only get one signature?

If this guy doesn't go anywhere, will you still enjoy having the signed ball as a memento?

Metrotheme,
Did you meet him, and if so did he sign the ball for you?

Yes I did. Nobody was there looking for autographs. I could've had probably got him to sign a few other things, but all I had was the baseball because my store didn't have any baseball cards of him. He was nice. I forget that even though he's like 6'9 - 250, he's still like only 20. He was at a PSAL baseball clinic, and since he was a product of the PSAL (that's the NYC HS league), he was answering all of the questions the kids had for him. He's still a project, but at 6'9 and throwing in the upper 90's, one they get his control together, he should be up in the big leagues. I'm thinking he's like 2-5 years away.

Phillies prospect Matt Rizzotti was there as well. I had a card for him to sign, and I asked him about how he got on the Bowman card, and he said that it just basically happened. They never asked him or his agent before printing it. He commented on the fact on how people will ask him to sign double digit amounts of the same card all season long, and that even though he appreciates that people ask, he questioned what they're going to do with 10-15 signed copies of his card.
