You can search Missouri death certificates 1910-1957. Not all are on there, though.

I find death certificates interesting. Charles A. "Kid" Nichols died in 1953 in Kansas City, Jackson county, Missouri. He is listed as retired "Bowling". I see no reference to baseball. It says "Widowed 2" under the marriage section. His wife's name was Jane and his parents were Robert Nichols and Christina Skinner. Kid died of Carcinomatosis? Or something like that (handwriting is hard to read). He is buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
If I find anymore Former Cardinal's death certificates I'll make sure to post.
