I want to wish all our 101 BBF forumers a great holiday. As I sit here and write this I look back at the number of posts we have shared over the past year and I have to feel that we are all a little better because of our mutual interest in the great game of baseball. While we do not always agree we share much.
To those dads just starting... Last year was probably my last year behind the whistle. After 25 years I have decided to leave and let those younger have a try. The ride has been awesome. I started with Tee-Ball and watched both boys play through HS - one as an adult. I had the unbelievable opportunity to coach HS with my youngest and now await the opportunity to teach grandchildren. My two boys will be home for Christmas and in spite of the deep snow, we will find some way to play a game of catch.
The key lesson I learned over the past two plus decades was the skills they eventually developed was secondary to the love they developed for the game and time we spent as father and son between the chaulk line. Enjoy it while you can...
To all those who have left BBF better than you found it - my profound thanks.
To those trying to help a child remember "He who dares to teach must never cease to learn."
Happy Holidays
