I hope this is the right forum and ok to post.
I went to the post office today just outside of Philadelphia and they were selling these. Its a commemorative envelope, with a "Take me out to the Ballgame" stamp, and postmarked Oct 29, 2008, the day the Phils clinched the WS. They were selling just the envelope for $10 and and the envelope matted with an 8x10 of either Cole Hamels with the MVP trophy or the team celebration.
I hadn't seen these advertised anywhere and I thought it was pretty neat.

Welcome! You do indeed have the right forum! That's pretty cool, btw, and this is coming from a Mets fan.

I'm a Braves fan and i would consider buying one. Haven't really seen anything like that before that is not in Cooperstown.

Chances are that we will see them at post offices. When Boston won last year my post office had something similar that they were selling.

I think they're called "Fist Day Covers" or something like that. I think the Post Office near me is STILL selling them from the Sox `04 & `07 World Series, as well as the Celtics Championship last year. I just saw one hanging in the Post Office commemorating Dustin Pedroia winning the MVP as well. They don't appear that they were big sellers.

I sort of collect first day covers, only picking up those I really like, like the Ruth, Gehrig and Jackie stamps from a few years back. The Phillies one is pretty cool, but that price seems a little steep to me.

Technically, these aren't First Day Covers, but event covers. First Day Covers (FDCs) focus on the stamp. Event covers commemorate events (duh!), not the stamp. Many of us Philatelists who collect covers save both FDCs and event covers, but there are specialists to whom the distinction is important.
