I'm trying to come up with a collection of a "book" featuring a card of every single baseball HOFer. Clearly the MLB players aren't a problem, given the old Galassco set, and the surge of "retired" sets and premium cards over the last 20 years, there is an abundance of sweet and affordable cards.
But, there seems to be some holes in recent years, and so I know exactly that I'm on a "dead end" mission rather than searching for white whales, does anyone know that there truly aren't cards for say Walter O'Malley, Bowie Kuhn, Effa Manley, Bud Wilkenson and other HOFers that don't exactly "fit" into various sets.
BTW, found a Barney Dreyfuss (Pirate owner during the early 20th Century and HOFer in 2008) card in this past years Jewish Baseball Players Card set as he was honored for his enshrinement.
FWIW, "modern" is the definition that it seem Beckett's uses in its guide, as starting with the first release of MLB cards from Fleer and Donruss in 1981. Chances are many of the 19th Century HOFers and Negro Leaguers without modern cards probably have one from the "vintage" age, but chances are they are too much for me to pick up just for this project.
