I checked with autographcollector to make sure this was okay...

There's a web site some of you may or may not know about. It's called http://signingshotline.com - They provide the most comprehensive coverage of IP autograph signings on the net (at least that I know of).

They actually provide listings for free signings and paid ones and even private signings. You can query a search for autographs by sport, state, specific player, etc.

I'm not affiliated with this in any way. I just think it's a valuable resource for people who collect autographs.

The source is free - but they do give you the option of paying for some extra features. You can even gain some of these paid features by providng them a certain number of tips on signings.

Anyone else have a way of staying informed about signings?

here is the only one I know of.
You won't get the full listing unless you subscribe though

I subscribe to signings hotline. The more you pay, the more focused the information. Like one difference between premium and lite is you can gets notices for specific states, teams and players delivered via email with premium.

It is a valuable resource, as BBSteve said, for those who like the IP route. I don't know of any alternatives, though.

Usually here in the Tampa Bay area, all I have to do is look in the paper and I'll see that so-and-so from the Rays/Bucs/Lightning will be signing at Business X. For the Rays, it's usually at a Checkers burger place. Since this area is the ST HQ for the Phillies, Yankees and Jays, they'll mention in the paper about appearances for anybody signing from those teams.

of course, there's the actual ST itself... :)

Checkers? Do they do it outside?

Every Wednesday and Saturday the Detroit papers have a full listing in the Sports section of whomever is signing that week/weekend. They've been doing that for years, and I think the online version of the paper does have that.

They do. The one near me is in front of a Wal-Mart so when somebody appears, they'll set up in their parking lot (people can park at the Wal-Mart) and everybody gets in line. Works out..I've mastered the art of eating a Big Buford combo standing in line ;) They'll also give away Rays goodies as well.

Of course there'll be ads in the papers for department stores having special events that will include a "MEET SO-AND SO OF THE RAYS (or other area team) TODAY BETWEEN 4 AND 6" blurb.

This is slightly OT, but some of the Bucs have "radio shows" usually held at either car dealerships or sports bars. They'll sign stuff during commercial breaks or afterwards.
