View Full Version : What does dropping the arm angle do?

when I watch yankee games and they have to face that monster named Roy Halladay.

I always hear about how the Jays sent him down to the minors and to reinvent him and make his arm slot/angle drop a bit lower.

What does that do, what are the downsides and is it safe for somebody at age 14 to do something like that?

Yes.

It will generally get you more movement (e.g. tail) on your fastball. However, it will tend to turn you curve into more of a slurve.

I'm not convinced that it increases the risk of injury (not directly at least).
