I was at a golf driving range today and there was nobody there. So I was thinking of having my son practice batting by hitting the golf balls as I would soft toss them. I didnt though.
Will golf balls dent a metal bat? Nowadays, the metal bats are touted to be stronger than years ago like: CU31, CU50, CU405, Scandium 900. SC3, etc. (Also, my son is 9)

If it doesnt damage a metal bat, would it be something to consider doing?

Hitting golf balls with a metal bat will ruin the bat. But you're thought process isn't far off. Get a couple dozen whiffle golf balls to use for soft toss. The small ball will make him focus. If you want him to really focus do soft toss with frozen corn.

I think it is a great idea for kids who consistently make content. Image how frustrating it would be the a kid who has trouble making contact.

I would recommend pitching the wiffle golf balls instead!!

we have a driving range that has 24 stalls, I have often thought about talking to the club owner and see if we could rent a couple of them at the ends. We also use the small wiffle balls in practice and the kids at first didn't like them but then it became a game who could hit the most.

My highschool used marshmellows when we practiced indoors. I did question the coach mainly because it seemed like a waste of food.
