No one has set up a poll for this match-up so I figured I would do it. Who do you think will win this match up.....you can explain why if you feel you would like to contribute your pre-series ideas?

I'm going with the Dodgers. Gotta like the post season experience with Torre and Manny, though I think the Phillies have the advantage in pitching.
I'm never any good at picking in how many games so I'll say the Phillies make it interesting and last 7 games.

I cannot remember seeing it HH. I hope I haven't overstepped the mark by setting this post up!

I scoured the forum and couldn't find it... I would have bet my Cal Ripken rookie card that I created that thread on this board. Maybe I need to adjust my medication.

Add in Derek Lowe and Greg Maddux for experience...
But experience doesn't always equate to winning, Torre knows that better than anyone.

Would you like to use some of my Lipitor.......mind you it does not help the memory, in fact it is alleged to have the opposite effect. Now what was this thread about?????

I voted for the Dodgers in 7. Would love to see a BOS-LA matchup that didn't revolve around the NBA.
Not to mention that the Manny Homecoming + the Torre/Yankee connection would be juicy storylines.

Dodgers pitching still did well. That error by Furcal was the difference maker.
Dewitt was sick at 2nd as was Blake at 3rd. Dodgers left too many runners in scoring position.
And I wish Manny would hustle out of the box instead of assuming a hit is a HR. He could have landed on 3rd on that long double. But of course he's not the only one that does that.
Dodgers have got to win tomorrow if they are going to have a good chance at winning this series. If Phillies go up 2-0 you can probably close the door.

Furcal is always touted as a "great" SS, but what he did tonight is typical of his defensive play. Runs up lots of throwing errors...
Regardless, it was a good game. I like a well-pitched game.

Unfortunate, part of the game the Furcal error. Manny standing and looking , no excuse. Who can say if he may have made third, could have changed the pitching strategy to the next batter. Havn't seen the replays, it did appear he probably would not have made third. Anyway, the point is, the bottom line is he didn't hustle, he has no way of knowing what kind of bounce you get off the wall.

The Phillies made the best of their opportunities last night and won. I thought it was a good game. I'm still going with the Dodgers in 7. I think they will squeak it out.

Manny is a BUM. Everybody here can tell me how great he is, show me all his stats, tell me what he brings to the team. I DON'T CARE. I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER WANT HIM ON MY TEAM.
I lost all my respect for this guy a few years ago. He hit a TOWERING drive to RF, I think against the Indians, and he stands there in the box and watches it, and watches it, and watches it. The ball bounces off the wall and the BUM barely makes it to 1B. Easy triple.. but because this BUM thinks he is too cool to hustle, he costs his team a run.
Constant HUSTLE is one the most important aspects of baseball and can play a HUGE part in determining the outcome of a game.
I would take Shane Victorino over Manny ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
I don't want anybody on my team who does not hustle. NOBODY. Not even Manny.

Yeah, this tread did exist...weird. Anyways, before the series i picked the Phils in 6 and with last night's win there is no reason to change now, so im staying with that. Big victory for the Fightin's. ALso, i agree with the previous post - Manny is a HOF and all that, but a horrible teammate and i wouldnt want him on my team either. The act he pulled in Boston this year disgusts me. I dont hate the Dodgers, in fact there are quite a few players there i do like, but i cannot pull for Manny. I would take Shane Victorino as well. Go Phils. Another great outing for Hamels, that guy is awesome. Here is to hoping Myers can keep it goes this afternoon!

I'll vote Phillies in 5, but I hope that they sweep. I'm getting my wish that LAD is losing, and if Tampa Bay beats Boston, I won't hear any smack-poo from anyone in NY/NJ. I'd have to travel to Philly, but we have no rivalry with them or Tampa Bay.

Dodgers might as well forfeit game 3 if they play like they have the last two games.

Dodgers pretty much gotta win the next 3 to have a shot. No way can they rely on going back to Philly to win 2 games.

I've come to the conclusion that Matt Kemp has never ever picked up a scouting report on anyone at anytime in his baseball career.
Keep coasting kid, you've got just enough talent to skate by and be productive enough to be kept around.
he costs his team a run...........I would take Shane Victorino over Manny ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
Ironically Victorino cost his team a run in game 3 against the Brewers.

Yesterday it was one poor defensive inning, today 2. I only hope that the Dodgers can retain their unbeaten home record against the Phillies, as they have done so far to to the Dodgers.

Baseball rules question pertaining to last night's game. Furcal is on second, first and third base are open. Manny steps in and the Phils elect to intentionally walk him. Naturally, the pitcher is lobbing them in to the catcher. Is there a rule preventing Furcal from taking off for third on any of those pitches?

I don't see why there would be. It's a regular pitch right? Just like if the intentional walk gets by the catcher you an advance. You gotta think though, while he is lobbing it the catcher is already in the standing position and could start moving forward when the pitch comes to him. Probably would gun out anybody.

Looks very much as if there will be just two correct selections.....Phillies in 5. Todays is shocker by the Dodgers defence. They have totally fallen apart, and cannot possibly bounce back.
