Does anybody have drills on staying back when hitting the baseball?

I feel staying back is more about discipline and patience then any specific drill. I've heard pros and cons about the Hands Back Hitter for staying back.

Go to a soft toss drill and hit everything to the opposite field... you will teach yourself to stay back, its all muscle memory.

Another thing, that mentally you can do is to visualize a picture of yourself right at the contact point going the opposite way with the ball... See the ball deep and you pushing through the ball... thinking that will have your mind tricked into reacting to that type of hitting every swing

HBH is not too shabby, but the string/trigger can break down on you, and I wouldn't use it exclusively to condition hitters to "stay back."

I agree with MrSurprise. Soft tossing is an effective tool. You can also throw outside pitches repeatedly during BP... and watch that the batter's chin stays on the lead shoulder and he is not "stepping in the bucket".
Another simple trick is to put a target (a glove, bat, or other object) in the opposite field. Have the batter try to hit it.
