I'll leave this poll up for 48 hours while all the teams are still in it. Who's gonna be the champ this year?

Cubs, baby!

- Arguably the strongest pitching, certainly in the NL. Brilliant 1-through-4 starters, solid bullpen.
- Big-game manager.
- Home field (until the WS). The success of wild card teams tell us that that doesn't matter, but going in, it helps.
- Strong lineup, top-to-bottom. Only one out of eight starters has an OBP below .350 - and that's Soriano, who happens to be their HR leader.
- Been there before: Edmonds, Lee, Soriano, Pinella
- Been in big postseason games: Ramirez, Zambrano, Wood, Harden, Marquis, Lilly

A litte more intangible:

- Probably the biggest bandwagon
- It's the decade of drought-breaking (Red Sox, White Sox, Angels)
- The last time the Cubs made the postseason for the second straight year: 1908.
- When my Tigers crap away their season, the baseball gods reward me with my horse winning the Series (1995 through 2005 - of course, the Cubs need to get there first).
- They've been stirring for about 5 years now, so they're due.

Its kind of a coin flip this year, but I will take the Angels.

The Phillies.

This, purely based on feeling. I'm not going on intuition or factual reasoning. For some reason my gut says Phillies.

Brewers. I would say the team i would consider least likely to win it is the Cubs, even though they had the best record in the NL and are a hot pick. I just dont see them doing it, in fact i have them out in 3 to LA.

Since the Cubs have Lou Piniella, I'm going to give the edge to them.

Why no love for Tampa Bay? Do you all think it is a fluke or something?

I wouldn't want Tampa Bay to win it all. That would be yet another expansion team that came into the league at the same time as, or later than, the Mariners with a World Series title. That would make me feel jealous.

Could you imagine if the NY Yankees (instead of the Rays) and the NY Mets (instead of the Brewers) would have made the playoffs there would have been a chance for a all Los Angeles, Chicago or New York World Series?

Thank god for the Brewers and Rays.

The Cubbies.

It really is time to put an end to this drought...

I have no horse in the race... I just hope it's neither the Cubs or BoSox and I'll be happy. That being said, of the teams left I went with the Dodgers. I like Joe Torre and I'd like to see Jeff Kent get a ring. He may have gotten one with the '92 Jays, I don't know.

If I had to pick based solely on play, I'd probably go with the Angels.

Yeah, that's right, keep picking the Cubs. Feed the curse, feed the curse. "There is NO way the Cubsters CAN'T win it all this year!"

Yeah, it would have been 2 NY teams, 2 LA teams, 2 Chicago teams, and a team each from Philidelphia and Boston. Talk about big-market domination.

Anyway, Picked the Angels over the Brewers at the All-Start break. Not a great start for the Crew, but I will stick with my WS pick, the Angels.

Brilliant 1-4 SPs - yeah, absolutely. BBs will kill ya. Thank you Mr. Dempster.

Postseason games? Zambrano: 0-1/4.37; Wood: 2-2/3.79; Harden: 1-2/6.43; Marquis: 0-2/4.76; Lilly: 0-2/6.61; Ramirez: .200/.304/.467 (not horrible w/ 1:15 HR/AB ratio, but not great)

Don't insult the fine posters on BBF with uninformed drivel. Do your homework before you post. Being in "big postseason games" doesn't mean jack; producing in big postseason games means something. And BTW, every postseason game is a "big" game.

GO DODGERS!

I am tipping the Angels but it is really wide open and I don't believe any of the 8 teams can be discounted.

Right now, I think the Dodgers or the Red Sox.
