Hello, All. :)

The 2008 Baseball Season comes to an end this afternoon, as the Pale Hose are hosting the Motown Tigers, I would like to hear your thoughts on what you've all felt and experienced so far, both from your team and the 2008 Baseball Season as a whole.

For all of you who've had your good eye on rising young stars like Lincecum, please share with us how you feel about their various contributions to the team. There are also teams that traded for vets like CC Sabathia, Johan Santana and Manny Ramirez. Please also share your thoughts on those newly acquired players on your team, and whether or not they had the impact expected.

How has your team fared in critical situations, such as low-scoring games, an opportunity to go ahead, or at least get some insurance runs late in the game, especially with RISP and no outs or 1 out. Are you overall pleased or unsatisfied with your team's production level with the game on the line and in very winnable games?

Was there a pattern of coming through, such as bunt singles, bloop shots, big doubles, or did your team fail too often by getting struck out, hitting into DPs, or guys just couldn't stop chasing junk pitches a foot wide of the strike zone and low (or high)? Were some players always trying to hit the 500 ft HR, while always flying out at the warning track, or did others seem to get that guy home from 3B, even if it took a cheap single, big squeeze or groundout to 2B to do this?

Do you feel that your team played in unison, were organized like a professional ball club, and often were in synch re hit-and-run plays, stop and go signs from the 3B coach, or did it seem like some were a bit unfocused, just stat padding in hi-scoring games?

What are some of the strengths and weaknesses of your team and other teams you've observed this season? Between the rotation, bullpen, lineup, bench, defense, managing and coaching, please feel free to elaborate.

If you wish to give your team a grade from A+ to D-, please offer reasons behind your decision.

In final, I say we add a Dave Letterman style "Top 10 List", both for your favorite and least favorite parts of the 2008 season. If you can only come up with 5 things, that's fine. Please post those 5 things instead. :D

I thank you all for your participation. ;)

I loved the 2008 season. I was expecting a very poor season from the Cardinals, but they were pretty darn good for most of it. They were a very fun team to watch. The light expectations cushioned the blow of them falling 4 games out of playoffs. I am not a huge Larussa guy, but he got more out of less than any other manager in baseball. If only Wainright and Carp were healhy?

On a bad note - I hated seeing Smoltz and Glavine out for most the season. That was very sad. Also, considering I can't stand the Cubs, Philies, or Red Sox, this could be a very bad postseason.

Top 10 Things:

10. The Yankees missing the playoffs!
9. The emergence of Ryan Ludwick - the club and local media have been talking about his potential since we signed him and then...pow!
8. Not seeing the national media kiss Roger Clemen's rear every time he started.
7. Mike Mussina finally getting his 20 win season!- would be his 3rd without the strike. Any HOF doubters now?
6. The arrival of the Tampa Rays! - I hope and feel they will stay around!
5. Roy Oswalt's inseason comeback - inching closer to HOF status
4.The Brewers finally making the playoffs again - an enemy of an enemy is a friend! Go Brewers!
3.Chipper solidifying his HOF status for anybody who was previously doubting - I hope there weren't too many
2. Johan Santana's continuing greatness. Could be winning his 4th Cy with better run support this year and better voters in 2006.
1. Albert Pujols completely demolishing the NL despite a torn up elbow. - especialy after all of the fantasy experts told everybody to beware and sportswriters saying he would have a down year.

Bottom 10

10. Albert's 3 weeks of injury
9. The Cards' 4-game sweep to the Brewers - that was the beginning of the end
8.The Philies winning again and the Mets choking again
7. Carpenter's injuries - but he was so good when he played!
6. The media's weekly obsession with whoever was hot at the time: Hamilton, Delgado, Howard, etc. - Completely missing perspective of the entirety of a season
5. Maddux geting no run support - limiting his career win total.
4. Glavine and Smoltz shelved most of the year
3. The Red Sox being so darn good
2. The Cubs being so darn good
1. The Cardinals bullpen - even a mediocre bullpne would have netted them a playoff spot - but I guess the Mets could say the same thing.

The season isn't over yet Mattingly, there is still one more game left.
