Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but when did the K.C. A's start wearing the white shoe's? And,I'm guessing they caused quite a stir among baseball purists?
Also, what where the team color's before they went to green and gold? Thanks for the help.

Judging from their team pictures in the Baseball Guides, they started wearing white shoes in 1967.

from '55 thru '62 the colors were white red and blue(midnight blue)...

the white shoes and gold batting helmets would be worn at the start of the '67 season...

Here's a great Willard Mullin cartoon from the Sporting News (1962, exact date unknown) about baseball uniforms, including a look at Kansas City's impressive new togs.

The beautiful "Ivy Look" only lasted one season before being swapped for kelly green and gold (lots and lots of gold).

I had read about how the players were very upset by having to wear white shoes.

Major league players of the era always had something to write home about, you know? "Man, I can't even tell you what it's like having to face Koufax when the sun's going down out here." "I was stupid enough to feed Mickey a breaking ball, and it should be going through Indianapolis by now." "Frank Robinson was in a two for twenty five until last night, and he went four for five off me!"

And then there's...

"Boy, you oughta see this guy. Flippin' idiot. He's got twenty different cities he's moving the team to next week, he's got that stupid mule dumping all over the infield, and if it ain't enough he's making us wear yellow and green, now he's gonna give us WHITE SHOES! Please trade me! I'll go to Washington! I'll even go to Houston! GET ME OUTTA HERE!"

Rest in pieces, Charles Oscar Finley.
