I have always wondered this. Are there tv's/monitors in MLB dugouts? Dumb question since they are right there in the thick of it all. But I am curious that's all.

I think some dugouts do have monitors that allow the managers to see the "action" in the bullpen, but nothing else. As for regular TVs...I don't think they're allowed, since players and managers could watch them and see the catcher's signals, for one reason.

I have seen TV's/monitors at both dugouts at Dodger Stadium and als Safeco Field. I have watched other baseball games including New York Yankees home game and there are TV's/monitors in both dugouts at all MLB ballparks.

I concur that the dugouts more than likely have tv's so the managers can monitor their relievers. That makes sense to me.

So what do they see? The home team's tv broadcast?

I found an article that says TVs are not allowed in dugouts.

"As Jays manager Carlos Tosca was out arguing that call at home plate, David Bush, Josh Towers and one of the trainers were looking at a TV monitor located in the camera pit next to the Jays' dugout. TVs are not allowed in dugouts."

HOWEVER, that story is four years old.
Look where I circled (top left side of that page):

Didn't Skydome used to have TV monitors for the bullpens in the dugouts because they were beyond plain view?

Yeah, I knew it was 4 years old. I don't really see how that makes any difference. There'd be no good reason to suddenly allow them.

Shea stadium has them at an angle hanging from the roof of the Dugout... but Ithink it is a monitor, not a TV that has the live broadcast.

Yeah, I remember seeing them there back in the 1990s.

Monitors showing activity in the bullpen seem logical to me.

Here's something I need to have explained to me... why is there a TV in the front row behind home plate at Shea Stadium?

I didn't know if you noticed the date of the link. That's all.

No cameras in dugouts other than bullpen cams.
