Does anyone have anymore pictures of the Baseball diamond with the football markings, or the football field with the baseball dirt still down?

I hope oakland ends up like san diego where the baseball team gets a new stadium and the fooball team that made a monstrosity of the stadium with large upgrades gets stuck in an multipurpose stadium!

Not to get off topic, but I still feel bad for the 49ers though.

Why wouldn't they wash away the football markings when the A's play there? Looks very unprofessional.

Why wouldn't they wash away the football markings when the A's play there? Looks very unprofessional. It looks like they're in the process of cleaning up after a football game. They probably paint them green like they do at LandShark Stadium after Dolphins games. You can still see them clearly, but it's not as bad

No those football lines werent painted green. I was shocked at this because I saw the A's on Tv the next night and they were still there. When i visited the park in 07 they had football the night before and when I went to the ballgame the lines were painted over. I couldnt figure out why they didnt paint them.

Something I've always wondered:

Can you access the second deck from the lower AND the above concourse? There are tunnels at the bottom of the sections, but it also seems that you could enter from above as well. If ss, that's a very unusual feature for an independent tier.

It's been years since I visited the Coliseum, but as I recall there are two spectator concourses behind the original pre-Mt. Davis grandstand.

The lower one serves the lower deck with an entrance from the top of the lower deck, and the middle deck from stairways that empty into the portals at the bottom of the second deck.

The upper concourse serves the little club/press level tucked below the third deck and the third deck itself in the same manner.

They might as well leave the football markings on the field, now that football is picking up again.

To get up to the third level you take a ramp up.

For the field level you just walk down. You could see where you go down by the two people and the guy in the wheelchair going down.

To get to the second level, you just walk up the stairs.

And this pic that I took was on the 2nd level.

I didn't try to go to the third level because I figured I would be up there all by myself since the seats are closed off.

So what's at the top of the second deck? I mean, if you walk up the aisle of the 200 (plaza) level to the last row, what's at the top? Is there no concourse access up there? In this photo it would appear to have a concourse at the top. I wonder if that's the 3rd concourse that services the Plaza level, suite level AND the upper deck. If so that's quite a hike just up to the portal.

Has anyone here ever sat at the top of the Al Davis seats for baseball? I know they were open for the playoff games vs. the Yankees.

What are those staircases for in the outfield corners? They don't go anywhere and they take out a lot of seating for no obvious reason.

I love how you can move through the concourse here without having to leave the seating bowl. This enabled me to upgrade my $9 Mount Davis outfield bleacher seats to right behind the plate in the shade without being detected, just by walking down through the second deck to the lower concourse

When I first entered the stadium I was on the main level which you can access the 100 or 200 sections. The pic that I took was on the last row of the last section on the 1b corner in the 200's. There was no way I can go up to the third level from the 200's. Like I said, I don't know anything about the 300's because I didn't even attempt to go up the ramp. All I know is that The Lower Level and Second Level (100's and 200's) are on the same level, and are both easily accessible by either walking down the stairs, or up them.

Those date back to the old setup of the stadium for football, when they would bring in moveable bleachers into the outfield to parallel the football sideline. Fans walked down the stairs to the field level to get to those bleachers. I'm surprised they didn't remove them when they built Mt. Davis, but then again, they aren't great seats for baseball, and they'd be blocked by football seats.

Couple I've snapped and don't believe I posted in the other thread. I still think it's a good baseball park as far as sight lines are concerned. If the Raiders ever get their own place (hopefully shared ala Giants' Stadium) the Coliseum could be refurbished ala Dodger Stadium into a nice park again.

The park is a great pitchers park with all the foul ground, something that just doesn't exist anywhere else anymore. The A's should exploit that to the max!

Get rid of Mt. Davis and things would be good again!

Fantastic photos redv! I agree with you one thousand percent on getting rid of Mt. Davis (and the Traitors while they are at it) and bringing back this park to it's former glory. I so miss those evenings in the late 60's and early 70's at the OAC with the A's and their loud kelly green and gold uni's . . . with ole Monte Moore shouting out the broadcast into my ear from my transister radio! And the smells of food in that park were fabulous . . . as well as the old rinky dink banjo players who used to rove around the ballpark. Sight lines were great too . .at least I seen everything I ever went to see. (we weren't so particular in that day in age . . lol). And bring back the "ice plant" to the right and left field hill leading down to the fence, I believe it was up behind the bleacher seats.

This obviously isn't the best looking stadium, but it's always an interesting park to check out on TV because there is ALOT going on. Very "busy" place. Can people walk around the "Mt. Davis" part before games? i know it's closed during the game, but it would be cool to wander up there just to experience how high above the action one truly is.

Loved watching the throwback game on MNF here last night. Very cool, the Raiders and Chargers both looked great in their throwbacks. Watching it be played on a baseball diamond was even cooler, added a bit to the nostalgia.

Same. It was definetly old school.

Even though I absolutely hate the Raiders, I just love their wacky fans, and for a team that hasn't done crap in almost 7 years the fans are very into it.
