I'd definitely take him. He could become really useful. He's exactly what you'd want in a 4th OF for a playoff run.
If he gets Coco out of the lineup against a righthander go for it.

True. J.D. Drew is scheduled to come back September 2nd so Kotsay can be used this week and whatnot. It's just funny how the Red Sox organization goes for old A's starters for OF depth (first Kielty now Kotsay).

From Boston.com
We reported earlier that Mark Kotsay had been scratched from the Braves' lineup before the game, in possible anticipation of a trade.
According to an ESPN.com report, sources have told ESPN's Peter Gammons and ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Tuesday that the team is on the verge of acquiring center fielder Mark Kotsay from the Atlanta Braves.
Boston is talking to Kotsay, who was held out of the Braves lineup on Tuesday, about his limited no-trade clause.
The 12-year veteran is batting .289 with six home runs and 37 RBIs this season. His on-base percentage is .338, compared to .319 for Red Sox center fielder Coco Crisp, who is batting .257.

If his back isn't acting up, Kotsay's a good player to have. He made his mark in Atlanta, and I'm glad we had him around.
