The Hall of Fame Veterans Committee has announced that Mickey Vernon and 9 other players will be on the ballot for election to the Hall. The election results will be announced December 8.

This is not the strongest group of candidates they could have come up with. It shows no knowledge of 19th Century Baseball, or baseball before 1920 at all.
Statistically, Mickey Vernon might actually be the best candidate on the list or right up there with Sherry Magee. Carl Mays and 19th Century catcher, Deacon White are close runner-ups.
