1. I thought Ryan Howard was that dude from The Office?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Howard_(The_Office)

2. Thank God the Yankees never changed their uniforms, and they have an owner who would never do such a thing, or else I'd have to put up with that like every year.

Here's a good follow up question to the thread. What is the most gimmick oriented franchise?

I used to think the Mets, but the Phillies are right on their tail after this one.

Baseball's fine. It's the 70's that need Taps.

How about we never allow the two to mix again. There's enough "shiny things" at ballparks now a days aimed at distracting the attention span.

Here's a thought, "we have a sporting event. People go to the sporting event, and actually pay attention to the sporting event."

You might as well put them on ice and give them paint ball guns.

Not quite as dumb as the "Mercury Mets" TATC. Only then the bad Photoshop wasn't Austin Powers costumes, but third eyes and Spock ears (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C0CE6DD1631F93BA15754C0A96F9582 60&n=Top/Reference/Times%20Topics/Subjects/U/Uniforms).

That went out with scheduled doubleheaders and AL hitting pitchers.

And don't hate on the 70's. I was born in that decade, and I still would love a tuxedo like the one Chuck Barris wore on the Gong Show:rofl:

Here's a thought, "we have a sporting event. People go to the sporting event, and actually pay attention to the sporting event."

I was at a Yankee game with my friend Stan, and when I finally returned to my seat after spending a few innings walking around the place taking pictures, I made a comment along the lines of 'how can all these people just sit and watch the game.'

I don't think I was trying to be funny, because I've never actually sat through all nine innings of a game - before I got my Digital camera I'd get the Wanderlust and walk around the stands and concourses, taking in the atmosphere and the crowds - but I immediately realized the stupidity of my remark and we both had a good laugh.

Folks, maybe just lighten up a little? A bit of fun? I know some don't want to hear this, and occasional it's difficult to believe, but professional baseball is entertainment, afterall.

It's not that, but what is being honored here.

I agree with you! But try telling that to some of the "security" people at certain Major League stadia. It's like they think they're guarding top secret military installations and protecting state secrets.

Where the hell did you get a crazy idea like that! Baseball is about bragging rights and spiteful unamenable scorn towards your fellow man.

And it's not about being entertained! It's about squandering precious intellectual thought and in depth logical analysis on something that won't cure world hunger.

How long have you watched the sport that you still need the basics explained to you?

Were the prices also "retro?"

The Amarillo Dillas of the United Baseball League did a "retro" night awhile back. Wore Amarillo Gold Sox jerseys (the crappy '77 ones not the awesome '61 ones) and the ticket prices and beer prices were set to be the same as they were in '77. The GM Mark Lee (former Padres pitcher) played for the Sox back in '77.
