One of my favorite short-lived nicknames is the Boston Bees, 1936-1940.
In 1939, they briefly went through a patriotic spell, in red white and blue (matched the Baseball Centennial patch nicely).
Somewhere I have a great photo of their blue and gold cap, a color scheme that went sadly unused in the majors until the 1970s.

Still can't find the photo of the cap, but here's a beautiful 1938 home jersey:

You can GET a replica!
Cooperstown Cap Company. Investigate.
From them I've gotten the 1941 Phillies, and the 1944 Browns...

ballcap.com has 24 different Boston Bees' caps. They are regularly $48 each. They have a sale going on (until Aug. 31st) for $36 each. Be aware, these caps are hand-made, and take 4-6 weeks to arrive.

Yes, but their quality (not to mention historical accuracy) is questionable, to say the least.

How about the Seattle Pilots' cap in 1969? That was blue with the gold "scrambled eggs" on it!

You're right. I was conflating the 1969 Pilots with the 1970 Brewers.
Maybe I should have said "almost the 1970s"? ;)
