A lot of people call Travis Jackson one of the worst Hall of Fame choices of all time, and yet surprisingly he has two Hall of Famers that are statistically similar to him: Frank Baker and Lou Boudreau. This thread obviously doesn't really concern them, as it concerns the players not in the Hall of Fame that are similar to Jackson. Those eight players are:

Carlos Baerga
Tony Cuccinello
Pinky Whitney
Marty McManus
Edgardo Alfonzo
Jim Fregosi
Shawon Dunston
Alvin Dark

Which, if any, do you believe should be in, or get into when they become eligible, the Hall of Fame?

Here are some notable achievements for each, black and grey ink, and similar Hall of Famers.

...and I forgot to make it so you could make multiple choices. Oh well.

If you want to do the thread over as another thread with a poll with the appropriate options, I can close this one out. That's unfortunately all I can offer.

Fregosi and Dark have cases; they are both borderline.

Of course, I wouldn't put either of them in before Alan Trammell.

What statistic are you using to say they are similar?

The four time homerun champ Baker had a career 135 OPS+ with six top-10 finishes.

Jackson has a career 102 OPS+ with a #10 finish.

Yes, they had similar HR and RBI numbers, but even though their career overlaped (or almost did, I don't remember) their era's couldn't be more different: dead ball vs. live ball.

Baker and Jackson are as far apart in abilty and production as Chipper Jones and Garry Gaetti.

Excellent comparison from my point of view. I have them each separated by about 2000 in H-Factor

I use the player similarity scores at Baseball-Reference.com.

Thanks, but I'll just leave this the way it is.
