For me it's Wrigley Field. No excuse for the trophs in 2008. It is by far the worst part of the ballpark. The Cubs need that Triangle building for some real bathrooms. I love Wrigley but hate the bathrooms.

They still have troughs?? Serious, no urinals?
Damn, I haven't seen troughs in the men's room since my college days, and that's a long time ago.

I can't remember now where this was, but this spring I was in a minor league park which had a trough consisting of a tiled channel in the floor, at the bottom of a tiled wall.

I was at Dodger Stadium on 8/1, reserved deck. And I got to pee in a trough. I made mooing sounds to make myself feel at home.

Okay, seriously, I called the "Bathrooms of Yankee Stadium" thread on this board several weeks ago. :)
This one men's room in shea had a strange set up.
I'll try and do a job in paint because that'd be easier than a description:
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z70/Chips347/shea-2.jpg
That divider made it impossible for guys taking a leak all the way to the right exit if someone else was using the urinal by the entrance to the little divider area.
Any of you Mets fans ever get caught in that limbo?

That's happened to me twice! I was trying my best not to bump into one of my fellow peers (PUNS FTW!) in fear I'd make the dreadfully awkward humping motion. That's why whenever I go to Shea, I ask for just an empty cup.
That last line was a joke.
that divider is really close the the urinals too. I'm glad when I went I had the freedom of choice. :highfive:

I like the tile. It most certainly pre-dates the renovation, so this bathroom was there when Ruth played.
Troughs aren't so bad. They keep the traffic moving.

The bathrooms at the Coliseum had troughs too, as of this summer.
Wayne Huizenga just renovated the bathrooms at the Dolph with linoleum wood floors. They've had waterless urinals there for a while now too. The wood floors make it feel a lot fancier in there these days. I'd feel a little awkward taking a picture of the inside of a bathroom though, so you'll just have to believe me

I find it interesting that rest rooms in Europe, no matter how bad, always have individual booths (with walls and doors) for the toilets. No stalls over there.

What makes a urinal better then the troph? Its funny that you mentioned this because it is one of the things i definately remember about Wrigley in my visits there. I kinda liked it because its different and definately makes you feel like you are in time machine, which at Wrigley, you are.

That type of squat toilet is ubiquitous here in Asia, as is the lack of toilet paper, for almost any public restroom. The real trick is keeping your bomb bay and fire hose far enough away from your pants and shoes. Just imagine Johnny Bench trying to stay in his crouch with his pants at his ankles. On second thought, maybe it's better not to.
My friend and I were in China years ago, and the sight of guys lined up over these troughs (no single toilets) with only waist-high walls to partition one from the other led us to the coin the phrase that we still use to this day: "Catchin' a no-hitter."

I don't know about you but I like to have a little personal space. Not everyone crammed elbow to elbow, or worse, while half of them are stumbling around drunk. I've used the trough many times over the years at Wrigley but give me a urinal any day. :)
Troughs aren't that bad. What was weird though, was the experience I had at the airport in Shannon, Ireland. You're pretty much pissing against a wall and the 'rundown' collects in a trench below your feet and goes down a drain.

what's wrong with troughs anyway???
When it's a "thirsty thursday" and you gotta recycle some cheap beer, who wants to wait for a urinal to open up. Just step up to the trough and let it go!!
I miss the troughs at the old College Park in Charleston!

This suprised me also. I just moved to Chicago from NY about a year and a half ago, and you could imagine my shock when I walked into the mens room to find a "conference on the mound" of penises.
I now hold it until after the game, and spend about 15 minutes pissing in the cubby bear.

I remember when I first went to Fenway 25 years ago experiencing the troughs for the first time. Never saw anything like that before. Do they still have them?
I also seem to recall a picture of a circular trough somewhere. That would be very weird, all these guys standing around in a circle with Charley aimed at the center.

God bless the USA indeed. :laugh
Fenway is pretty bad. I don't know if it's still like this, but there used to be a bathroom at the top of the 3rd base grandstands. Some of the urinals we're pretty much back to back. Probably why you need to watch where you step on the way back to the parking spot....

At first I couldn't believe that there would be communal trough toilets so I googled toilet troughs and found this: http://projectjanel.org/china/toilet.html
Bad enough it's a trough squat setup. But no doors and everything.

I've never used the troughs, i always wait in line for the toilet :shhh: It's just...umm...weird......anywho what's really funny is the short urinals that are at the end of a row of sinks  It's pretty much scary every time you go to the bathroom at Dodger stadium, remember to keep your eyes straight and try not to ever look down............
However the absolute worst bathrooms are in Mexico. I experienced a bathroom where you had to pay some lady for a tiny piece of TP. We once stopped at some truck stop in the middle of nowhere and the damn toilets didn't have seats......and the doors wouldn't lock so i had to hold it just in case someone tried to come in.......but at least it had TP :ughh I remember when i would get mad because a toilet didn't flush, after all that it didn't seem like such a big deal. You'll definitely want to take a shower after going in one of those places.

I'd like to think I had the honor of being in the first 25 or so people to clog a toilet at Miller Park.
2001 Season - Miller Park's first and I didn't go to opening day, but I did go to the second game of the season. About the fourth inning, a Brat or something wasn't agreeing with my stomach. I had to RUN to the bathroom and well, I'll leave out the details, but that toilet wouldn't flush once I left the stall.
The bathrooms are Miller Park are nice though.

The worst that I ever experienced was in Old Comiskey Park. Aside from the filth and stench, the troughs were not the worst part. The toilets were out in the open. No stalls. Don't know if they were vandalized and never repaired, or if that's the way they were intended to be. There are times when a man needs just a bit a privacy, and when on the throne is one of those times.
