I thought that Baseball Fever could use at least one more Yankee Stadium thread.

:hp (aren't mods able to combine threads?)

Thank you for this contribution. They play in the Yankee Stadium up there in the Bronx.

We mods can indeed combine threads. Unfortunately, the threads seem to be on slightly different topics each time.

It's not up to Barry Bonds-level yet, but it's getting close, the number and variety of threads we've seen.

Oh, Citi has a myriad of threads, too. That's all I will say, in attempts to keep any turf wars from continuing.

So if the Yankees were to pick up Barry Bonds before the end of this season...

No, you wouldn't want to start a turf war by bringing up Citi, would you?

But since you have: including the Citi v. NYS comparison and the Old Shea photo thread, the Mets are losing 11-4 over two pages of threads. Citi only has two threads and there was a debate on the first as to whether or not another should be started regarding the seating and pricing.

Most of the YS threads are legit (as confirmed by their activity), but threads asking if Yankee Stadium is "the brightest" or "most photographed" seem like they would fit nicely within a general Yankee Stadium thread.

I'm sure you'd feel the same way if someone posted "Does Kaufman Stadium have the greenest outfield?"

At least it would move out of this forum. I think.

A Yankees amentities thread. That's not a bad idea to combine mere opinonated superfluous stuff like "Does Yankee Stadium serve the hottest nachos?"

Crazy thought: is there any way to create a New York or new park subforum? I couldn't care less about any of the new parks, but I fear the constant deluge of banal minutia coming is preventing good historical threads from starting.

That's certainly worth discussing, in one form or another. Let me toss out some of these suggestions to my fellow mods and we'll see if we can get a little more balance with this forum.

I suppose now's a time to borrow from the late Chicago columnist Mike Royko, in the midst of writing about New York:

"My favorite movie is 'Fail-Safe.'"

(If you know the movie, you'll get the joke, and I won't explain it here.)

I can see a NYC subforum, just because those two have generated so many threads, but I would think this forum ought to be about all ballparks past present and future.

Shibe, County Stadium and the Rays Ballpark ought to have equal place here, in my opinion.

The Yankees will be playing at a golf course during the playoffs.

Without the frieze, death valley and the removal of 7,000 bleacher seats made this an ugly 1970's ballpark. Could you image Fenway without the monster or Wrigley without the Ivy?

It's funny that those two parks somehow survived the era when so many beautiful parks were destroyed, despite being quite ugly and very cramped themselves. Whereas Yankee Stadium, hands down the most beautiful stadium in the world, could not make it past its 50th birthday without being stripped of its dignity. Could you imagine if the original Yankee Stadium was still intact, how beloved it would be not only around this country, but around the world. An even more powerful New York symbol than it already is, if the Statue of Liberty green frieze still hung from the roof.

I think a Yankee Stadium subforum, with a sticky at the top, is long since overdue, given the number of threads on this forum. Those with a special interest in this stadium would benefit by all of the threads being right there. Those who would be annoyed at Yankee Stadium being given special treatment would likely be outnumbered 2-1 by those relieved that every third thread is no longer related to YS.

On the surface I frown on segregated threads, whether it be Yankee Stadium, Citi, Wrigley etc. But there comes a time where something has to be done in the interest of order. The fact that this thread even exists is proof enough. But in the end it's up to the moderators.

Considering it's the last year of the stadium, that is probably why there is so many threads. So when this year is over wouldn't it be assumed that there would be a lot less Yankee stadium threads. Because of that I don't see why there needs to be a separate Yankee Stadium section.
